convince me to buy an HUD, need pictures...searched

Okay I can get an 89-90 digital cluster and hud display for a decent price. But I have searched and found no pics of the cluster lit up or the HUD lit up. Im teeter-tottering on if i want the HUD. I think I want it, so convince me.

I just need the subharness, cluster, and hud right? I'll rig the rest of the stiff.

I'm surprised that so many people have never seen the HUD work, or even seen one.

thats my hud sans dash lights, they dont like to work for some reason .

if you go ahead and get the parts i recomend that you go through all of them and re-solder everything you can. it will help prevent problems like mine .

ps, the hud dosent have to be that bright. mine is that way do too said issues not alowing me to adjust it.

My friend just picked up a HUD equiped s13 with a broken hud, which we will replace... I would like to try a crack at changing the color of it if I can.. if its any way simular to the way I changed teh color of the LCD clock on my analog cluster.

Just make sre it works, its nothing spectacular, I like the location of the tach more than the HUD.

I found the hud to be a little bit too low and out of the way to be really usefull. Looking down there was distracting I thought since I couldn't see other important guages.

Generally, yes, his posts amount to that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.

OT: As critoen said, use some window tint, 3M stuff, the DEFI film, whatever's clever...

Plus, we shouldn't have to "convince" you. If you like it, get it. If not, don't. If it's something you'd like to have, go for it. I don't see any advantage to having it aside from looks.

It's very common for them to break down too, so don't be surprised if you get it and it takes a dump on you. Keep that analogue cluster, just in case.

Finally, if you DO get it, make sure you get that subharness, or else it ain't gonna work.

Good luck

For everyone who hasn't seen it enjoy. Don't have one with the dash lit up. This is from my old coupe, don't have any of the new one yet. And I love HUD and digital speedo, especially since the RPM is in the center.

I have decided to use the digital cluster with HUD. For testing purposes if i turn the ignition to ACC will it display a number on the windshield? Its a junk parts car.

Everything there is stock OEM (except for autometer guages and White face overlays on the cluster). Everything is as it was in '92 and my '93 is the same way. Think HUD was only an option on the Coupes though. Steering wheel is shiney because of armor all (think that was the last time I cleaned the car before it got totalled.)

Here is the '93 now, switched the guage cluster from the '92 because the dig speedo wasn't working. And haven't got the autometer guages in it yet.

i find the HUD handy when a) there is sun shining onto the cluster, making it so i cant see the speedo readout (this also works the other way around, since they are facing different angles) and b) when im turning and the wheel is blocking the cluster speedo.
