WTF? S13's came with R134a?

I have a 1993 Coupe SE, and it's R134a? What the hell?
I thought s13's came on only R12? The service manual even states R12.
I don't think this is a conversion kit either, the R134a sticker on the underside of my hood looks factory. I examined all the hoses too, and they're labled "For use with R134a only".

Anyone?

There were a few '93's that had them. Check the FSM. Be sure to use R134 though. *a

I know my car is a late 1993 model and the FSM is wrong about a few things. Nissan started switching over to some newer stuff that year so it doesn't surprise me. For instance, I bet your KA intake manifold doesn't have the swirl control valve in it and I bet it doesn't have the aggressive cams from the previous years.

I know mid '93 was the switch over year for B13's, so I'd imagine the same for S13's.

Well, I have a higher redline than my friend's s14. 6800 compared to 6500. so yeah.

Shit then, is there an updated supplement for the late-93 models?

1993 was the first year Nissan used R134a. New cars like the Altima got it automatically while it was filtered in the rest of the lineup during the year. Later production cars got it along with everything else.

yea my current 1993 s13 coupe comes with R134a system while my old 1993 s13 hatch i had before was still R12. so they must have changed it on the late 1993 models.

at first i also thought it was a conversion kit of some sort. but all the a/c components are label for R134a use.
