people selling cars that are still in japan are a fruad
have been researching how to import over comlpte cars from japan and!!!! you cant unless you have 2-400000 dollars to do all the crash tests
right now the only car allowed into the states is the skyline but only through motorex and they charge 18-25000 just to do the conversions... I have been talking with the dot iportation office in dc about the regulatons and he said i quote"you can not import any car from japan just to have it even if you didnt drive it.It will never leave the port it came in on" and if you do get one in peaces you still cant let anyone know you have it theyll take it and destroy it or ship it back" so these people selling complete cars on ebay are blowing smoke up our asses |

Wow. Is that true? That's funny cuz last weekend I was driving at a drift event and guess what I saw and guess what I sat in. It doesn't look like a skyline to me. Looks more like a pimped out 90' Soarer getting driven the way it was meant to be. HARD!!! According to your info, it must be a RHD conversion of some USDM car or maybe even a skyline/soarer conversion. Yeah, that's what it must be...
And these must be skyline/s15 conversions. What's funny is that these were on ebay a couple of weeks ago. http://www.autoconxion.com/cars.html Importing JDM cars is possible. You just have to know how to do it. ![]() |

here's the falseties in your post (and yes I did make up the word falseties, its pronounced false-it-ease)
a) can't rb-motoring also import skylines, why yes they can so no not only motorex, and I think there may even be one more that does it b) uhh you can bring any car in from japan that you want to, legalizing it to drive on the public roads is the hard part c) your boy at the DOT Importation apparently doesn't know what he's talking about and I quote: Quote:
thanks, and try researching harder next time before you start making posts trying to sound like the gospel. KEvin

haha this thread got PwNeD L337 style!
![]() ive met 2 guys with real s15's and one guy with the type R hatch (new civic SI hatch) here in the states... they all told me somewhat the same things that they wouldnt get into detail with.. they all said that they easily imported the cars over here...it was just the paperwork that was a biotch...

you're ignorant. i was say you're retarded, but that would be putting down mental people. JGYCustoms had a r32 4-door skyline imported, no crash test needed yadda yadda yadda. You can import any car you want to, just you must classify it for show/track purposses only. newbie's these days. hmmm.

A bunch of jackasses. This is what Zilvia has become.
Can nobody understand that he was attempting to help people. And rather than correct his error, or maybe infer that he's talking about registering JDM cars for highway use, rather than show or race only. You assholes are pinked. And if I were slightly more upset about this, I'd ban both you and eliminate some asshole-ism from Zilvia. -Jeff

Jeff, I understand what you are saying but how is he helping people by posting false information. There's enough false information on here as it is and I was just trying to help zilvia become a better place for people who want factual information. Sorry about that man. Really. It just pisses me off to see false info.

jeff - hope I didn't come off as being an asshole about it. yes I did write some smartassed comments in there, but only kinda dry humorly, I wasn't trying to 100% flame the kid. anyways I'm not pinked so apparently it didn't come off that way.

To the basis of the thread, he is correct. You cannot legally import and drive a JDM car. If you do anyway, it can and will be crushed/exported. If it were easy to legalize and register cars here, we'd all drive s15 and skylines around. Sure, he didn't specifically state that, but bieng cool and jumping down his throat for something easily inferrable, yet not stated, was uncalled for. As far as the race/show use only imports going back after 5 years, I'm not sure about that. -Jeff

Yes, It is not Legal to import alot of cars into the US. A lot of the Members cars on this fourm are not legal by DOT rules/laws. This however does not mean it is not done in the grey market or flat out Illegaly. Just because it's illegal does not mean it's not done. People bring in cars every day. To say that these companys are comiting fraud aganst the buyer is a streach. If you can show were a buyer payed for a car and then never got it. Then cry fraud. But, the case in the past is that the company breaks some laws and gets you a car. Flybert was trying to show you that it is done.
Your first post looked like a rant of a 12yr old. Most people took it as such. This is prolly why you got flamed. You did not post till later that you were an importer tring to give us information. I'm not saying it's right that you got flamed, just understanable.

Crash test Data is nessesary for California if the car is to be registered and insured for street use. That is a fact. However, if you know enough of the right people you can proably squeeze through. I tried to get my hands on an EK4 SIR-II back in the day and I tried everything I could to get crash test data, even went through people that worked for the Honda Motor Corp. and couldn't do it because the data just didn't exist.
The argument could be that the car is almost the same as the US version just RHD... but that makes all the difference to officials. This thread sux sack... I got over trying to import a car, you should too.

ive also noticed alot of members on zilvia like to talk shit and flame on people when they say something incorrect. its really sad. im sure its very hard to legalize a s15 and have it to drive down the road.
on a side note, i cant help but drool over those s15's!I saw a post on club4ag about that shop, and yes they do have s15s. they also have other jdm vehicles such as the toyota chaser. torrance california? i must go by there and check them out!!

somebody brought over a bunch of soarers back when it was a semi legal "gray" market... they all went to cali. Apparently they all had the 1jz in em, they were the sc300 style ones. all rhd drive too. legal to drive if you can find one... and I'm guessing the vins off those cars would be pretty valuable when they are salvaged too.

If you are in the US :
This is information about importing the JDM car into the US. As you may know, all the Japanese specifications vehicles (JDM car) are Right Hand Drive. Unfortunately, it is difficult to import JDM cars into the US at present except the 25 years or older model. It is because you have to obtain the approval from the DOT and the EPA in order to import the JDM car and it needs to legalize a car when it will reach to the US port. Let me advise you that unless you wish to present crash test data for any Right Hand Drive car, it cannot legally be imported to the US. This is prohibitively expensive as a vehicle must be crashed to obtain the data, and we do not support the crash test data. Also the JDM car probably do not meet the US emission standard. And after 1996 models probably need to install the OBD2 system in order to pass the emission standard. For your information, here is a link of the US importing information. EPA : <http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/quikover.htm> DOT : <http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/> US customs : <http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/xp/cgov/import/> As of Oct 2003 the ONLY RHD JDM allowed for import into US is 1990-1999 Skyline GTS GTR. The vehicle must go to US conversion company (est 8k-18k USD) to meet US DOT standards. And you have to give them a returnable "bond" of 150% of vehicle value until conversion is done. If you get caught with an illegal one on the roads it will be confiscated and destroyed at YOUR cost. NOTE : We J's Garage Export do not support any import procedure. The buyer is responsible for any necessary procedures, or any transfers, or any modifications for them to import the car. |

no you can but if it has not been approved to be here like the skyline or crash teted they wont allow it..... BUT you can have a dealer in japan sell you a car and they will dimantle it and ship it to avoid the bs of dot, epa, federal here is a web site you guys might like they will dissasemble the car after you buy it and load it in a container and ship it over but agin if you want to drive it youll have to change vin tags orsomething to a car alike it in the states wigh is possible but illegal www.japan-partner.com and the cars are cheap there
