What is a good setup for Lower compression like say a 8:5:1 compression. JE pistons. about how much does all this cost? what else do u need to do? forged connecting rods? ne thing else?

pistons are usually 650, rods 750 and rings 100. i have contacted every piston manufacturer via email and none have given replies. i explained i have the money in the bank, tell me what i need to do, and you gotta sale.......no repsonces. i guess i should call them....only to get an answering machine

Thats not a bad idea. Also, how much power can the stock rods take. I remember hearing somewhere that s13 rods were stronger than s14 rods.

S13 and S14 rods AND pistons are identical.  There was a rumor that the s14 had some sort of special piston but this is incorrect.  Some guys over on FA got part numbers for them, and they were the exact same OEM part #.

I beleive the the DOHC s13 and s14 have the same pistons but the S14 has oil squirters which are usually only found in turbocharged engines, if I am not mistaken, making an S14's pistons more reliable in forced induction due to the extra cooling effect of being doused in oil.

Also, I've always read the Stock bottom end (not including pistons) was good for 400-450hp or so..  The Crank and Rods are both forged from the factory.
