![]() *** 9-9-20 Update ***
Building the engine for daily driver use and SCCA Solo II (autox) rules. As of today: KA24E Crank balanced 9.1:1 pistons from Traum Pistons Cylinder head work by Rebello Racing Questions: Which head gasket do i get? What's better than Fel-Pro? Head gasket bolts? Fel-Pro, Mahle, or ARP? Not exactly a high comp engine. Which timing chain? Sealed power, Melling, or Cloyes? *** /update *** I'm getting a KA24E block rebuilt for my S13 and was looking for the early pistons with slightly higher 9.1:1 compression, part # 12010-40F10. Late pistons were 8.6:1 compression. As you can see, these early pistons are NLA/discontinued. Link: http://datnissparts.com/x-flat-top-p...6-12010-40f10/ Did some digging and found this: KA24 pistons in L28: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/...istons-in-l28/ It mentions DNJ P616 flat top pistons. Has anybody used the DNJ P616 pistons in a KA24E? Oversize also available. I autox the car for fun and want to keep the sohc OE-spec in case i get competitive and people start protesting. ha ha. right. Thanks for any input.

DNJ is horrible & I highly recommend you do not purchase that brand for anything let alone pistons. Shave a shit out of your head & use a thin head gasket.

Bump for more questions, like:
For head gasket, besides the OE-spec Fel-Pro, are there MLS (spelling?) or other options to look at?

You should be fine with FelPro and for a stock build I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Is this an HS car? I see DSP in your vehicle description. Just curious. |

Quote:
It's been under DSP since 2007. With the head work--waiting to get it back from Rebello--it cannot go back to HS.
