I decided to be all "fancy" and took my valve cover to be powder coated. Big mistake. I asked them to be careful with the sand blasting, but I still saw sand inside the cover when I got it back. Should have known better.

But this gives me an opportunity to pull my car apart even more and remove the baffle covers to clean it and thread them back.

What I wanted to ask you guys is if you have any advice as far as improving the baffling while it's open. I have that fine chicken wire thing, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can add to improve the baffling. Should I replace the chicken wire with something else? Or just clean it up, put it back together, and just make sure I have a good oil catch system?

Also, while we're kind of on the subject, I'm planning on connecting two different inlets on a catch can to the T-fitting and the PCV valve respectively, and just vent it all instead of connecting it to sources of vacuum. I know the T-fitting is ideally connected to the turbo inlet to provide vacuum under load, and the pcv valve is connected to the intake manifold to provide vacuum at idle. Any issues with just venting them, instead of connecting them to vacuum sources? Would like to hear from people with recent experience with all this.

while you have the baffles out, I highly recommend having the whole thing ultrasonic cleaned.

I went through a similar thing, I had a p11 valve cover powdercoated and I specifically told the place NOT to sandblast, ONLY to chemical strip. Got it back and there was a ton of sand residue all over the inside. I removed the baffles, cleaned it a ton with my parts washer, then brake-kleen, but there was still fine sand dust in it. Took it to a local ultrasonic cleaner and they got it spotless. It was only like $45-50 and they showed me how much residue came out when cleaning. Quite a bit.
