SR20 Ignition system upgrading..

What is out there? I know splitfire makes a coilpack kit for it. thats about it unless going to stand alone and changing everything? Not much to upgrade the spark plug wires neither becuase of the coils right?? Or does the ignition not really need any improving? Consider these for a lightly to mild tuned motor still rocking a T25/T28 and roughly around 250-300hp....

Just got into a debate with someone tryin to sell me some MSD spark plug wires that are used on engines without coil packs (say a KA for example) and Im just tryin to see if im right.

Edit- come to think about it.. since SR doesnt use a distributor, it relies on the crank angle sensor, so regular spark plug wires would not work.

They work if you use aftermarket coils. Then you have to have a sparkplug wire to go from plug to coil. I upgraded to the msd dis -2 ignition cause I was getting breakup at higher rpms. It fixed the problem but with 300 whp I don't think there will be any benefit of upgrading.

There are plenty of SR's making 400-500 whp on the stock ignition so it should be fine at 300whp.

Agree.
Do not waste your money on an ignition upgrade, becuase its not really an upgrade.

Install a splitfire kit, on the dyno I noticed 2 hp and 3 tq gain .. big wow.. not worth the money at all.

Killjoy, as far as your problem being sloved, did you ever take the time to check each coil before "upgrading" to an msd system ?
