ST sway bar install
so i got my suspension techniques sway bar set in the mail from the group buy yesterday, and just thought i would include what i had to buy to get it to fit in case other people will be doin this soon.
alrite for the rear i ended up gettin 4 1cm m10 1.25 bolts and a few packages of washers. have a 15mm and 17mm socket and wrench handy for the sway bar hardware. and there is no way that i can ever see a dual n1 clearing these. i just heatwrapped the sway bar and it doesnt rattle or anything so i should be set. i used the 4 bolts i bought with a few washers on the d-links, and the rest of the washers on the endlinks cuz i ran out of thread on the bolt. ill make sure to add if anything was needed with the front when i throw that on this weekend. feels good for now though, much easier to break into oversteer while cornering. i overheated my car cuz i was havin a bit too much fun last nite ![]() well hope this helps someone... |

this is old but I found it on a search. I didn't need any additional hardware to install my suspension techniques bars, except for a nut to replace a stripped stock one on the front (not sustech's fault at all).
I should note that while sustech includes longer front bolts, its very very difficult to use them because of the much wider bolt head, which contacts the side of the front mount for the bar bushings. Basically they attempt to use the stock mounting points for a wider bar, a wider bushing, and a thicker bracket, and you really have to pry on the bar and the mount to get it to fit, and even then you still have to use an open ended wrench turned sideways to turn the bolt in, about 1/4 turn at a time. I got the pass. side in with about 30 mins of effort but the driver's side wouldn't go, even after grinding and bending for clearance, so I ended up using the stock bolt (which, its worth noting, still went in a good 1/2," probably plenty to secure the sway bar). Aside from that (and the fact that there was confusion caused by the instructions referencing 4 included washers when they accidentally included 8, a fact I confirmed by speaking to a technician on the phone) both bars went on fine with no problems with all the included sustech hardware. And they are nice. I don't see duals fitting through the rear bar (at least not side by side). |
