Title says it all....Got the injen intake in yesterday and slapped it on in about thirty minutes. Gave it a little gas in the garage and was really not that impressed with the way it sounded. Got on to a back road by my house and put the pedal down. I've never heard an intake be that loud or deep in my life. Literally, it's the best sounding intake I've heard. It also helped to pull through the top part of the gear...hard all the way through 6100 revs rather than 5600.

I've had both, and I thought the Short Ram was louder than the CAI. The short ram used to drone on the Highway. I don't notice it with the CAI.

I plan on doing the extension after I have my exhaust work and throttle body done (stage two of mods). Definite buy for those considering intakes....

yah that was always a question of mine why does the intake sound different when revving and then when driving? it sounds 10x better when driving. one time i was driving my 86 mr2 to school i have a custom cone on there and this kid was like rev your engine! i did and he laughed and said his 91 cavalier sounds better. so i was like f-u the car is pretty slow but obviously definatley faster than a cav. (this is off topic) its pretty cool the intake valves open at 4900 and it almost sounds just like a turbo.

i believe the sound produced is becaused the pipe is acting as a reverberating chamber, basically, the sound is echoing in the pipe. IIRC, a mag, possibly SCC. had a article a year or 2 ago about how longer intake piping affected both volume and power. i believe they found the longer piping to add more power, and more power, but i could be wrong

the sound comes from the pipe itself. big Intakes are always Loud. Kinda of a whooshing sound.. very cool.

Every listen to a V8 with 4 barrel carbs.. Those things are LOUD.. much of the sound you'll hear is comming from the intake on those too.

One of my friends just put a CAI on his RSX-S and that thing sounds like a Race car when he hits Vtec.

Does anyone know if it is louder than the pop-style intakes? I have one on both my S13 and my Maxima, and I'd say they were pretty loud. The one on my S13 has an open-end filter, which gives it a sorta dual-tone. It sound surprisingly similar to my friend's Lotus Esprit .
