Power Window Problem

Earlier today as my window was going up, it sounded like the motor just stopped working and the window went straight down. The motor makes a whining noise if i try to raise it back up. Anyone know how i can fix this? Do i have to go to nissan or can i just buy the part at a auto store and have a mechanic do this? I need to get it fixed asap as there is no space in my garage and it might rain tomorrow.

Thanks

either the raising mechanism broke (common on nissans) or the window popped out of place (hope it didn't break). i'm not 100% sure of which setup the 240's have, but if they're like the other 5 nissan windows i've fixed, there's a small plastic tab on a cable that probably broke. it's an easy fix with a little MacGuyver ingenuity though (i drilled a very small hole and pushed a cotter pin through and bent it around, works like a champ).

so what's so CHEAP about the SR swap again?

I know exactly what happened. The bolt or bracket thet hold the actual glass window to the rail broke. The noise is the motor going up and down. You need to get a bolt and bolt it back up. Kind of hard to do once person becuase it's a tight fit and you have to align it a bit, but it is a super easy fix. Good luck.

sorry to bump this back up, but this happened to me a few days ago. the bolt on the glass that attaches to the regulator broke off in two. so do i just keep turning the broken bolt and it will eventually come off, or just pull it all the way out, or do i need a special tool? i'm afraid i might break the glass if i go about this the wrong way. oh and i most likely have to pull out the glass out huh? any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The bolt that is attached to the window sheared? You might have to get a new window if that's the case. But I'm not sure what you are talking about. Post pics if you can!

The bolts press out of the glass. Fine someone who's got a good window and pick it up, or find a salvage yard with a broken window and nab it the part you need.

S14's window glass are held to the window regulator by two bolts. Don't ask me why but the rear bolt, (closest to the door latch), on the window regulator assembly has a tendency to break. Finding that stupid bolt is a pain....dealer won't sell it unless you buy the entire glass.
Anyhow, I've attached a photo showing what the bolt looks like. Other than an auto glass shop, anyone have an idea where you could find a bolt like this??
