Consult questions

ok why dont more people talk about the consult thing? I mean doesnt it basically tell you everything about your car. anyway i know theres a guy tryin to get a GB with the blatz thing, but I have some questions, first and foremost, I have an sr in my DOHC s13 chassis, which I assume is good and it has consult, but its chopped i guess cuz i never wired my new harness to consult because all the wires are different, can someone explain to me what I need to do, I remember capping off a bunch of ecu wires which I assume was consult, its an s13 redtop sr engine, also, what kind of things will the ecu relay to me if I buy this software and cable. becasue im sure every car has different perameters it measures. also is there a way to send a wideband analog signal to these units. I just figure many more people would be rockin this shit, and it doesnt get talked about much, I searched and found some stuff but what do you guys think. i mean shit, the only reason i was gonna drop 400 on a boost controller is to see my duty cycle, i have a perfectly fine MBC, this thing will tell you all that and more.

also i was looking at the consult wiring schematics and i only see about 6 wires going to the port, am i delusional, ? how do you get all these readings from only 6 wires like upon reading about this, it wil ltell you all about your iacv, rpm, IDC, speed, watertemp, timing, battery air fuel, airflow, ETC, seems like it would need more than 6 wires, or does it work differently, since I believe this is a nissan software, maybe they have it sending multiple signals through the same wires, like how coax cables work and serial and all that, seeing that the safc needs to tap into each sensor to work.? am i speakin english here. someone educate me. thanks very much.

http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/consult_if.shtml this web site shows what it all tells you. I will find out which wires you need to find from your ecu to get consult data.

oh there is no catch other than the price for the software which isn't even that much. If you are into tuning yourself and would like a stand alone bikirom.com has a semi stand alone for really cheap. But here is the ecu pins that you will need to make consult work...... Pin#15(Tx) Green, Pin#7(Rx) Green/Black, Pin#14(Clock Signal from ECU) Green/White, 12v Power, and Ground Using the diagram from http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...det+ecu+pinout

i just want to monitor, like IDC and im having some idle problems that might be due to IACV maybe something here will tell me this, and i like cool looiking gauges and shit haha.

edit install question

ok so from ecu wire should be a green, Green black, and green white, someon said this is all i need to wire from ecu to consult plug, but in schematics it calls for a B which im guessing is black, and also G/L- which is green/? anyone care to sort this out for me, thanks so much.

I am working on Making my own Consult Plug to Serial Port so i can use my computer to view the data. I can link you to a site that shows all the stuff you need to make it. As soon as i get a few extra dollars i am going to start hunting down all the supplies to make one.

haha yeah good call...it is the next best thing to actually having a scan tool in your car. I can't drive my car till spring so i have another month or 2 before i decide to use consult and safc2 to tune my car or use that bikirom.com which incorporates consult data in its software.

Look for the schematics for the F1 plug at the ECU. You can find it all over the 'net. PLMS has the pinout for the CONSULT plug. They should line up except for ignition power, which they recommend you tap from ECU power.

yeah that sounds right...you don't have to use eccs ground you can just use a good chassis ground. It eventually goes to the same place. I will look for more info on whether the 2 diagrams are the same.

I've used the PLMS cable on my SR and my friends Z32, just buy the cable from them, it comes with (cheesy) software, but it works, if you need help hooking it up let me know

I know they recommend ECU black/white for power, but I chose to tap into the radio harness for constant power. I figure it's easier to change a radio fuse than trying to hack up the ECU wiring. I'll let you know how it works out.

I can vouch for the use of the MDM-100. You are buying a buch of gauges with only one plug.
Keep in mind that they are several parameters not monitored by the ECU.
