G35 owns SR
My friend with his auto G35 on sport shift beat my car on a little illegal street racing on an empty street. All I have is a redtop SR with old plugs, fuel pump, intake, dp, stock cat, 3in exhaust and boosting 9psi. We were even off the line until after every shift he'd get about half a car ahead of me. I shifted around 6500 and by 3rd gear, he was a good two cars ahead. Just a little baseline before I fix my problems and put in new plugs. BTW, I have 15 mesh wheels, full interior and a full rollcage. It was quite fun and can't wait to do it again!

LOL!! thats funny, My 86year old grandma has a 04 G35. I always knew it was fast, but I didn't think it was that fast.

i raced me friend wit his 03 g35 6spd... freeway run...my car sr boosting 10, FMIC, exhaust downpipe stripped interior 1 passenger. he had 2 other people wit him..ohhh yea his A/C on too..

i was gonna say slow sr but hopefully a retune should do. otherwise, a eg b16 on bolt ons would be on your face at half the price of a s13 sr... should race me and my eg(no b16 in mine) some day on a straight. we all know riverside is notorious for dead roads.

i've raced G35's an 350Z's alot...the only time i loose is when the 350Z is turboed too...

SR swaps that need work are not fast at all. I have seen 185whp dynos on them with stock boost. Thats nothing to be concerned about if you own a 350Z or a G35. Before you get all upset notice I said "stock boost". 9psi is not really that high.

Indeed the VQ is a stong engine. Those cars are just heavy.
A VQ S13 still would be interesting and fun.

I'm not sure how fast SR's can be because I haven't really raced with it in a striaght line. It was a different kind of rush tho, waiting for the gears to redline. I think my highlight was after we were done, I had to heel-toe, shift and turn onto another street at the end. Straight line runs don't give the same feeling as hanging turns. If I would have saved my money on the suspension and just put it into power, it would have been a better story. MESHIES are tight! Best bang for the width and lipage! I really need to take that stock CAT off and fix my boost leaks. I have a blitz EBC but it's not tuned right because the setup isn't easy. Maybe I'll install that as well.... Oh yeah, sup bobby! How was the Eastcoast?

I have a 350z. And since we are all in the same Nissan family. Here are some of the weak points of the G35/350z/VQ that we are currently hacking around. Very expensive/tough to get 300 rwhp NA out of the motor. Nissan didnt give us much room to play.
350z/G35 Rods and Rod bolts. Plenum- Restrictive Weight (Stock exhaust is 16lbs, hatch 48lbs etc etc) Z's that have stock internals cant boost over 8 or 9 psi. Or Pop. ECU( Not very tuner friendly, especially in later Z's or G's. Anything after 2004.5) Stock 350z's rev limiter is set to low (6600rpms) pre 2005 model. But a very torquey engine. International versions of the Z intake duct is smaller than US Spec Z's. Stock Throttle body doesnt open to 100% Final drive ratio is to low. 3.5. Can mod up to 3.95. US Spec Z's dont have a heat sink diff cover to pull heat off of LSD. International versions do. G35 Stock intake tube is more restrictive compared to Z. As much as 7 hp is lost just by this tube. |

it isnt easy typing in a hurry..but yea we raced and he beat me..then we got the parking lot..i told him g35 is quick..but he said he noticed that i started to creep up on him after 100..the end...

at 8 psi my car dynoed at 210whp
at 15 psi i beat a 350Z to 100 by about 2 car lengths
