Does Any One Have 6x9's?

Just Wondering if any one else has installed 6x9's in their rear deck. I never see that size mentioned and it was the first mod I did. Then again I also had an altima with the factory parts to do so just laying around.


Doh, now i searched and it looks like there R actually a few different ways to gey 6x9's into a coupe, I recomend the Alty parts though, same over bracket style and covers, the coolest thing is it looks like its stock.(even has the stupid active speaker crap on it )

i put 6x9s in boxes and put them in the "holes" where the jack and stuff goes and on the otherside in the other hole

I took a piece of 1/4" thick plexiglass, cut the holes in it for the 6 x 9 speakers, covered it in fabric, then fiberglass resin, sanded, primed, primed, primed, primed, primed (see a pattern?) painted (x4 coats) and used a satin enamel clearcoat... Backseat goes bye-bye, so the regular oldschool 6 x 9 boxes will sit in that pass through, while the board I have them mounted to will be mounted to the former location of the back seat...

Dud e do you have pics, cause that sounds awsome. I just had a bashed Alty at my house so I stole its OE stuff and used it, Super Super EZ, just trimmed the factory rear deck to accept the Alty's speaker covers. Bet yours sounds better.... Damn it!

Wait, does that mean you do alot of cusom fab work. I hated working with fiber glass, silly itching. Also does that mean you have the speakers aimed at you now instead of reflecting off the window? Just wondering?

I have an airframe repair license, I don't do any custom fab work, and yes, they WILL be facing me and not the glass, I will stick with stock-sized speakers there... I haven't taken pictures of it since I finished it. Started with an 18 x 24 piece of plexiglass, marked it out to make sure the regular 6 x 9 boxes would be mounted centered to the back of it and to make sure the holes would be the right size... Drilled a large hole with my drill, cut the holes with a jigsaw (use fast cut blades, smooth cut will melt the plexi) Then I placed the speakers on the glass directly to mark the holes for the screws, then drilled those, and then put the fleece on the plexi with contact cement, I used a fleece fabric instead of fiberglass (same effect, no itchies, less mess in my house) and saturated it with the fiberglass RESIN (10 bucks at autozone) waited for it to dry, coated again, dry and sand, then used a brush on white primer from wally world, then brush on black paint and spray on clear enamel, satin, because I didn't want it shiny and shit... I mounted the speakers, screwing them THROUGH the holes drilled in the plexi before I put any of the resin or paint on, used masking tape so the resin/paint and primer wouldn't adhere the speakers to anything and to keep them from generating a "plasticky" rattle, and leaving my options open to change to new speakers in the event I happen to blow these for any reason... First time I ever tried anything like this and it came out damn good, I think.
