Ignition switch removal
My Ignition switch is so sloppy. It's getting harder and harder to start. How do you remove it? I found one in a wrecking yard, but does me no good if I can't get mine out first.
I had thought about replacing the whole steering column. I really want cruise control and thought it might make that swap a little easier when I'm ready. Can anyone tell what I'll have to acquire to put cruise on my '93? Thanks, Matt Last edited by matt0481; 02-22-2005 at 02:06 PM.. |

No need to remove your steering column just to replace your ignition switch. In order to remove your ignition switch from your steering column, you'll need a screw/bolt extractor kit: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00952152000 When Nissan installed your ignition switch at time of manufacturing, Nissan used anti-theft bolts to secure your ignition switch to the steering column. In order to remove the ignition switch, using a drill & appropriate sized drill bit, you'll have to drill into the anti-theft bolts, then using the bolt extractor, you'll be able to unscrew the anti-theft bolts that Nissan installed at the time your car was being built. It's easy to do provided you know what you are doing. It can be done in 20 minutes or less. ID
