![]() I just got my sr20. Was wondering at what point is an ecu upgrade or other electronics needed. I'm about to do the swap and I also have a fmic, intake, fuel pump and catback going in. Do I need any computer upgrade at this point? I don't want to lean out the engine too much and blow it up. Thanks in advance, I already searched.

do the swap and hook it all up. once you get it running, once you feel its all good the swap and your wanting more power then at that point its a good time too consider an after market one for after mkt ecu or have some one re-tune your ecu. |

Don't mess with ECU/management systems until you mess with fuel or if you raise boost above factory spec which ultimately you need more fuel anyways. And what you need to tune all depend on what you want to run. If it's not too much say below 300, a piggyback system such as Greddy E-manage can well handle it, of course don't forget bigger pump and injector. It's better to get ECU tuning done when you run even more boosts but it will cost you a lot more. And if you are serious and got a lot more money, standalone is the ultimate tuning devise you want to go after.

![]() So as long as I don't higher boost, I don't need upgraded electronics? Even if I wanted to go with DP, test pipe, and 3" from Turbo all the way out through the exhaust? Wouldn't this cause idling to be off or is a Walboro all I need? Injectors too? Man, I sound like a newbie!!! But I need to know.
Thanks |

you will be fine with just the walbro.....i have full exhaust, intake, fmic and it runs just fine on stock boost....i would say that you could even get by on the stock fuel pump for a little while if it is in good working condition...i have been doing it for the last 8 months but it is in the mail now..

its always wise to have a ecu tune, even with the simple bolt-ons it will help optimize the power gained by them. also after a ecu tune you can go faster than that pussy ass 115mph nissan regulated us to. enthalpy is the best route, even over standalone.

if you think about it. ECU upgrade or having an ECU tuned can bump up more considerably. if not help with driveability of the car. such as the Nismo 270R. Nothing more then a S14 with boost turned up and a tuned ECU along with injectors and other items IIRC.
