Spacers vs Long studs

Hi,
I have a dilema, since I can't get +18 offset wheels in Europe to clear my coilovers, i have to fabricate spacers with studs, or install longers studs on the original hub and just make simple duraluminium 'pancakes' with holes, which are easier.
So which I should choose? Chich are safer and more reliable?
Im a bit scared of using longer studs, since they can bend or twist...
Thanks in advance.
S14, 5 lug.
