here's my question, although it may sound stupid and was probably asked before... (my search doesn't work)

if i have a 89-94 240sx and completely convert it to a series 2 S13 Silvia K's, except for the right hand drive...
would i be able to go under the stock class as a silvia? instead of a modified 240? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dozingoff.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

if you've swapped motors you're gonna be far far from stock class. i dont know how the SCCA works, but it sounds like you'd be in "race" class for MCSCC. this means you need a full roll cage, harnesses, and complete flame retardant suit. you will also be competing against tube framed real race cars. but then again, if you're doing SCCA solo II, i have no idea what their rules are.

You should be running Street Mod...if you can drive well, and you turn the boost up some, you should be fairly competive.
From the '01 SCCA rulebook:
Street Modified
"Drivetrain and related components (induction, ignition, fuel systems, etc.) are unrestricted except for the following limitations:
a.) Engine must be from same manufacturer as the body.
Maximum engine displacement.......
Forced Induction-
3.0L (OHC engines)
b.) Vehicle must be legally registered for the street."

"The firewall, roof, doors, rear quarter panels, floor pan, trunk lid/rear hatch  must remain stock....this specifically allows replacement hoods, fenders, wings, front & rear facicas, and side skirts."

The only thing I can't find anything about are the headlights, but as long as they're there, I don't see why it would cause a problem.

ahem...

I wouldn't recommend you try to get away with this in a national (or even regional) event.  I'd challenge you.  There is no way you could legally register that car/motor in the US.

I don't know which mod class you would be in though.  BUT, at a local level and for fun, I don't think the SR would be a problem in SM.  If SCCA cared enough to class a "Silvia" it would not be in ES - more likely SS or FS where it would have stiff competition.

'>  I guess "legally" could be interpretted different ways.  I figured a tag and inspection sticker would be sufficient to qualify...and the car itself should already be registered.  But I know exactly jack shit about the specifics of laws and stuff...what exactly qualifies a car as "legally registered for the street" anyway?
