A friend told me to take really heavy grit sandpaper evenly to my newley resurfaced flywheel. HE says it will make it grab way harder and allow the clutch to get used to it faster. What are your views?

what is the point when it is already resurfaced? realy hard sandpaper.. wont that make like deep uneven marks on the surface?

You sometimes need to use 3m scotch wheel to knock down the ridges from a shitty turning job. Certainly don't want to rough it up. The clutch should do it for you.

by jsut words, it should work out just fine. I was thinking about the same thing, but ^MrModMan reminded me, the clutch does it.

Just get it resurfaced. If you want to replace a clutch every other week, rought the shit out of the flywheel. It might grab a little harder, but it'll wreck the hell out of both your flywheel and your clutch.

yeah i have it resurfaced im not going to mess w/ it though, that would be a waste of $42.50 resurfacing fee

You should have them cut gas slots into the flywheel and cross drill it too.

and make it a vented disc while you're at it.

the flywheel should have a little bit of a roughness from getting it resurfaced, scratching it up will only make it tear the shit out of the clutch material and waste a lot of flywheel surface too.

plus by making the surface too rough you lose contact surface area until it the clutch friction material wears down the flywheel surface to be smooth again.
