installing the SAFC and or setting the initial settings incorrectly can seriously F UCK your motor up...make sure you read the directions in both books and flip back and forth a few times to make sure you know what your doing...choose the wrong pin and you could jack it up as well...and make sure you solder the wires and do it right the first time..not black tape....asking where the ECU is on the car while installing the SAFC sounds like you may want to ask for some help first
good luck

i am gonna agree...i don't recomend doing that job unless you are confident with your electrical skills. Your gonna have nothing but problems unless you do it perfect. But if you insist on doing it your self, good luck. Pick up a soldering iron, solder with flux, and some heatshrink to shrink over the individual connections.

yah dont do it yourself, because splicing wires is sooooo hard, and reading instructions is even harder. *sarcasm*

or take nismos offer, but make sure he explains it to you also. Remember that saying, Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

splicing wires and such isn't nescessarily hard, but shorting out a wire because of one little mis-movement and consequently shorting out an entire ecu can be expensive...

The reality is, if he doesn't know what an ECU looks like. He shouldn't be atempting the install.

First disconnect the battery
get a diagram, study it, read all the instructions on the manual and all SAFC installation threads for S14 all over the net.
Get a FSM, you will thank me later
Identify the wires, all of them, before doing anything, double check with both Apexi and FSM diagrams. Be sure to look at the diagrams correctly. Like other said, you can short your ECU at least.

Get some splices, connectors and electrical tape. Befoer cutting anything.. leave some wire as slack, just in case you need to reconnect it.

Be sure NOT to leave any exposed wire, reconnect the ECU (if you removed to connect the SAFC), double check, triple check and connect the battery.
Before starting the car, be sure to reset the SAFC, even it is brand new, check SAFC manual for this.
Then set up the safc for the correct setting for your car, do the sensor check on the safc and then start your car.
Verify idle speed. All corrections on the safc must be 0 if you have stock injectors. If you have changed to bigger injectors adjust them accordingly in the correction map before starting the car.

Good luck!!
