Shifter plate stuck

during the process of installing my b&m short shifter i had run into a problem with the stock shifter plate. from what i can tell from the instructions it should be just pulling out the whole assembly, but this is not the case with my car.

anyone have any tips on somehow removing the shifter plate? i found a topic about someone with a problem and someone mentioned using a hammer to hit it out. i tried it, but no luck.... any one have any insight to help me with this?

how about you, post what it was your friend did, that way anyone who might be silly enough to try and search sometime down the road might find something of substance instead of an empty thread?

kk.. anyway basically all we did was just dismantle the stock shifter until there was just the plate. after that we pulled the plate off easily with pliers.

... ass backwards... B&M's instructions make it SO easy to do it, insted one woule jack the car up and remove those 2 front ones from underneat the car if they actually have somewhere to be.
This will trump the necessity of the "dismantling" of the stock shifter or magically contorting an open end wrench to remove them otherwise
