yes. Extending ground wires is nothing. EVERYTHING is do-able, just throw in time and effort.

I don't see a max load cap on that battery. You could kill it cranking.

If you mount it like that you dont need to extend anything but the two wires that go into the PDC wich takes a whole 5 minutes.

Ive had that battery in for a while now and it works brilliant, i can even leave the stereo on for like 15 mintues or like today it had the brake pedal depressed with the lights blazing for an hour on the alignment rack and it started up just fine.

So it will work fine then? Yeah, my mother in-law has 3 or four just sitting in her garage. her husband was into building robot r/c (bot wars) and he past away a little less than a year ago. She asked if I could use one or not. If I can use this battery I will be mounting my front mount today or Wednessday.

Thanks again,
Andrew

Well you need to find the full specs on it, like my battery is a drycell, i dont know if a gell cell that size will support cranking as S14db said, maybe compare it to auto drycells like mine, they all over ebay for $50-60

well, if rezlo has one that's working, i gotta say i'm pretty surprised it works, that thing CLEARLY doesn't have the CCA's that it SHOULD (I say SHOULD, because jsut because something works, doesn't mean that's what u should do...)

The battery terminals themselves tell me taht this battery wasn't meant for anything bigger than a riding lawn mower, but if you just need a temp. solution, it should be good for a while, just remember, if you live wehre it gets really cold, don't expect it to be able to crank...

IMO it's definitely something I wouldn't depend on regularly as far as reliability is concerned... There's A LOT to be said a bout a nice optima.

Yoshi: I see and appreciate your looking out for me. As I said it is free and yes it will be temporary. I live in Arizona and no it's far from getting cold at the moment, we have had rain these last two days but, stll in the 100's. so should I go for it or no. Like you said reliability: I do not care to get stranded anywhere.

I forgot to mention, I have no system/ stereo of any kind in my car right now, no a/c. the only accessory that is in use is my headlights on at night. nothing more besides the obvious.

Thanks,
Andrew

Welp I did some research 4u, and check this out! It seems (on paper) that those batteries are quite the deal! I don't know how much they retail for, but if it's less than $75, it seems to be a good deal... tho you're getting them for free so no worries.

Anyhow, here's a link to a spec's chart from Odyssey. I personally run a 925MJT, which I consider to be the MINIMUM power req. for regular use (with accessories, so u have some cushion)... your battery (again ON PAPER) seems to be directly comparable to the 925, so if the longevity holds up to what their specs are, this battery should be just fine for you, your biggest hurdle will be getting hte right terminals

Here's a link to the odyssey spec page (note that the odysseys are Drycells):
http://www.odysseyfactory.com/specs.htm

While it looks like the specs are up to par, you should note that by the post design, it was never intended for automotive use, which is not to say that it won't work, but things like the case material and operating temp come more into play under the hood of a car than they would be strapped to the back of a lawn mower, air cooled by a motorcycle, or "water cooled" by a jetski

If you lived anywhere but arizona, I'd say you'd be just fine, but I lived in phoenix for 8 years, and it gets DAMN hot. So I guess my advice is; if there are multiple batteries, run one of them and throw the other in a battery box in your trunk as a backup why not if they're free?
Hope that helps!

my one in that pic is also a odyessy PC680, its actualy made for Harley's wich do require quite some power to swing over, I paid $71 shipped on ebay for it and it came with terminal addapters and and a metal sleeve that goes around the plastic to prevent dammage.

As Yoshi said they dont have a lot of CCA's so if you live somwhere where it gets under 50 often you might have a problem, I used the same PC680 in my Supercharged chrysler V6 in the middle of Chicago's winter for about 3 weeks and it worked just fine, I think the fact that its drycell is what makes them able to pack so much into suck a small battery, weight savings alone are well worth the money.

But again in a cold climate i would say no, luckly here in africa we dont get anything under 50, what i was thinking is just the weight saving envolved between the PC680 and having to re-route 2ga to the trunk with a larger battery there with battery box ectr ectr, hell the weight of the old battery box location i cut out of my car probably weigh's as much as the new battery does.

Along that note, Odysseys fail after 2years almost like clockwork, so be prepped for when it happens, mine lasted exactly 24 months and 2weeks... most the domestic guys that run them have very similar stories.

Small price to pay for such a nice little battery. I guess I'll pick another one up in the next few months and keep jumper cables in the car.

I really don't see myself running anything else... well, maybe an optima in my SUV, but otherwise it's all about the Odysseys

Word Up. I'd definitely go with an optima for a big car.

www.kinetikaudio.com also has a really small battery. part number HC600 i believe. I had it in my s13. it doesnt come with automotive terminals though. and the automotive terminals sold for optima batteries dont fit it, so you'll have to put different connectors on your wires.

right now though im using a riding lawnmower battery and it works just fine. looks like that grey battery pictured above.

ok, I apologize to the thread starter for getting this off on a tangent.... :hammer: I only brought up Odyssey to relate to my link and compare my battery and the batteries in question, as the specs look to be about the same.

clearly people aren't reading the main post at this point

Let's get back on topic ppl
