Anyone blow their Megans yet?

After 2 months it seems like 3 out of 4 are blown. Neither drift nor track just Massachusetts. Whenever I drive over cracks or bumps I get compressed air squeaks. I'm going to take them off and investigate further.

I've had mine on for over 2 months now, and drive it everyday on 90% brick roads, with the other 10% of the roads either being pure potholes or dirt. No problems whatsoever, just had the dust boot scrunch up on itself once.

3 drift events, easy daily driving, I think all of mine are still stout. BUT I do get a clunking noise from the driver side C/O . Everytime I wanna check it out, I just change my mind.

If Megans blow that fast I best keep away, I am running sportlines on OE shocks and they last longer than you say your Megans have (which means yours are still good most likely). Oh and I drive on MA roads too... Geh...

The air swooshing sound is pretty normal on suspension for the 240SX. My Tein does the same thing. Doesn't mean your shocks are blown.

They are not swooshes. They are loud squeaks like annoying compressed air crickets . This just started a week ago. I'm not certain they are blown but will look into it on Friday just seeing if anyone else had noticed anything unusual.

HAHA I-40 East in OKC SUCKS BALLS. It has steps built in along with potholes. The entraces to I-35 suck too. It looks like a "Z" to get into traffic.

Ok, I have to partially agree with you. Only with the fact that its just not Oklahoma City, its all of Oklahoma. I live in Tulsa and the roads suck here too! They say its because of the extreme hots and colds that Oklahoma recieves thoughout the year.

One of the reasons you can't do an extreme drop, like most of the CA guys.

Pretty sure Mass, NJ and NY roads are the worst in the country. Mass highways are unlike anything youve experienced. To the poster, Do you pick your lines on nasty roads, or do you just let your coilovers take whats coming? I know driving into Boston, If I dont keep my eyes peeled and choose wisely, my coilovers would be damaged no doubt by the end of the ride. Straight nasty shit. Shouldnt even be allowed to get to the point they do.

It's probably not air swooshing........just the fluid inside the coilover being forced through the shock "piston" or whatever its called. The piston thingee has holes in it that the fluid is forced through when it compresses and rebounds. My koni's make this noise and they are almost brand new. Make a "ka-chew" noise over bumps.

Of course I pick my lines but my neighborhood for instance is a battlefield. Driving around these roads is like a sport.

if the road is REALLY bad you need to SLOW DOWN

you dont know what driving on bad roads is like. I regularly drive into Washington DC, and i live in Arlington county, aka, perpetual road construction. There is never a day i dont have to drive through at least an 1/8 mile of road construction at minimum

I live in Iowa.

I live on a gravel road.

Enough said.

Well, maybe not. I plan on switching to D-drugs in a few months (currently AGX/KGMM springs)

well my MR coilovers make a small bit of this noise going over large bumps like speed bumps, and my 2003 WRX makes those noises on stock suspension when i go over the same speed bumps. My 2002 Mini Cooper S made these noises, as did my old AGX shocks on my S14. My mom's honda element makes these noises and my dad's corvette makes these noises. My sister's sweet bike also makes these noises cuz she has shocks and pegs and everything, but only when she takes it off of jumps and stuff.

good enough answer for ya?

boston roads are voted worst in the country there is no e-penis war jeff :-P lol. as far as coilovers go this is the most destructive place for a car period no matter what your talking about. salty roads and potholes will kill you. as far as the megans go im curious how everyone else is doing with these. if your from the north and these will see salt you will DEF wanna do something to prep them for the weather to come. 1 winter will trash a set of coilovers beyond repair. btw, my coilovers squeek n creak when cold too. did since they were new.

This thread scared me at first, cause I'm saving up for MR's, but after reading through it, it doesn't seem like their blown. Maybe I'll just get KTS's

I wouldn't let this thread change your thoughts on the MR's because I know a few people who've been running them for months and have never had a problem with them. And since when did 240's not squeak. My hatch is always making some sort of noise. But look at it on the positive side, if you concentrate on it hard enough then you won't fall asleep during the night!

Your coilovers are blown when the ride is completely "flat" as I like to call it. Basically when you don't get any rebound when you go over a dip or bump and the ride is harsher than before. Does anyone have suggestions on prepping coilovers for the winter (Northeast states)?
