the bulbs are h3. Yes you need to remove your bumper to mount the lights.
All s14 have fog light wiring. its just that on the base model, they dont have the switch. You can buy the SE switch and it plugs right in. The switch is on the signal indacator/headlight switch. then plug in the fuse and you're set.

iirc, isn't it possible to install the fog lights by just taking off the bolts that hold the underbody panels onto the bumper?

Try that first, if it doesn't work, or if you don't have enough room (which would probably be the case), then remove the bumper.

yes H3 for fogs , remove splash shield only, need two relays, one of the regular blue ones same as a/c relay goes in driverside kick panel the wiring is there just look for it, and an odd black relay that goes in the fuse box in the egine compartment, then lastly the switch for models equiped with fog lights, all easy plug and play. sorry no part numbers, you'll need to search as i can't find the receipt for the parts when i was doing this

and good luck finding yellow bulbs

how is it confusing? did you read what others posted?
your car has the wiring, it's all hanging there unpluged. Just plug in the lights, fuse, relay, switches.
