KA another power steering issue...

A few days ago my power steering started to develop a humming noise. consulted with a few people and decided the noise was from the power steering pump....k so i go order a new pump( kragen 3 days to deliver)/ no problem. Today noise went away...so im thinking wth.

Should new pump be installed or return it? any idea y the noise would last for a few days and go away. did air get in? seals? pump bearing going bad? rack and pinion?

any idea's

Yeah, I got one.

Too lazy to find your old post... did you check the fluid?

Usually the whine is associated with low fluid/air in the system.

Check fluid level, if low, top off. If not low, leave it. Regardless of which it is, turn the car on, and crank the steering from side to side for a couple minutes and check the level again. Also check fluid for bubbles. If fluid remains roughly the same level and no bubbles, your pump is prolly shot.

Otherwise, you should know what to do.

Good luck
