I am wanting to do a valve adjustment on the 240 I recently picked up (yesterday). Do any of you have the specs? 1989 SOHC

No idea. I bought the car yesterday, it's my first experience with a Nissan product.

then why would you want to do an adjustment if you don't even know if they can be adjusted. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the ka's have hydrolic lifters not lashes that are adjustable.

My mechanic asked me to get the valve specs, so I am. The car is ticking quite annoyingly, and he's pretty sure it just needs a valve adjustment. I pretty much trust his word as gold, so, here I am.

you cant do a valve adjustment on the KA. did you check your oil? if it's not the oil you need to change your timing chain

SOHC uses hydraulic lifters...no need for adjustment. Make sure you have adequate oil and oil pressure. If the lifters were not filled with oil (ie your mechanic removed/replaced the lifters), it also takes about 15 minutes at idle rpm to prime the lifters with oil. If the lifters still make noise, then you might have a bad lifter or the rocker shaft is worn so the oil leaks and there is not enough pressure to keep the lifter filled with oil.

The grade of oil you use also has an effect on hydraulic lifters.
