s14 S14 Silvia K's R200 Diff...open diff or vlsd?

I came across a sale for a Silvia S14 K's differential. The seller is telling me its a R200 diff..so not sure if R200 or R200V. I guess we'll assume R200. The seller is assuring me that the diff has VLSD and the orange sticker fell off the diff. I have only seen pics of the diff..but may see it in person tomorrow.

It looks like it has 6 bolt output flanges. I need some input on fitment issues on my base S14 and my half shaft lengths. I am assuming since it's a K's model..it'll probably have a vlsd. I could be horribly wrong though. I also searched and found that the K's final gear is the same as usdm (4.083). Am I right? I dont think the seller is going to let me take of the diff cover so I'm kinda stuck. Any input is seriously appreciated!!

Go there with the cash and tell him you refuse to buy it unless he lets you inspect it. It's a buyer's market right now. Money talks bullshit walks

HAHA! yea. Well if he doesnt want to open the diff...I would kinda understand..to a certain extent. With a vlsd does the "spin one wheel and if other wheel spin same direction..lsd" theory work? Because doesn't the viscouls material need to heat up before lock up? ALso, its just a diff housing...no wheels so I would need to turn the output shafts reeeeal fast??

More input appreciated! Thanks

My understanding of it is that both wheels should spin in the same direction when they are in the air. I guess the reason is that there is no load?? but they should both spin the same direction.

Spinning just the output shafts is going to be wack. Anyways.. I'll probably be looking at the diff today. Any technical info would be very helpful!!

if its vlsd if you spin the output shafts they should spin the same way, if its open diff they are going to spin opposite of eachother

or, take your digi cam and take a pic of the diff and show it to us...

I have a VLSD unit with output shafts sitting in my living room. I put on the output shaft, spin it, and it turns like an open diff - so I am second guessing that isn't the fluid needed to heat up first for it to Lock?
