The one on the bottom is just the center piece from the earlier 180SX...the actual taillights that go with it are very similar, if not identical to ours.
The first one is the taillights and centerpiece from a late model 180SX Type-X.

1 wouldnt pay more than $500 for a set.....and that includes shipping!

maybe it just has to do with personal preferance but why in the #### would you pay 500 bucks on a tail light set?  I mean couldn't that be used to make the car faster or something.  It just seems kinda steep for some lights

I'm all about performance, but it never hurts to make the car look better. I intend to get these some time in the future simply b/c I think they look better than the A-spec lights....can't stand amber. There's nothing wrong with that.
