5spd tranny mounting question

Working on another car that spun a rod so we picked up a low mile longblock from a hardbody auto.

Heres the problem. the new block has no place to mount the starter. I found some talk about a m/t mounting plate but nothing to really tell me if thats what im looking for. im thinking i need an adapter plate.

If there's no semi-cirle opening in the block for the starter to go through.. I'd guess you picked up the wrong block...

you could make a semi circle aluminum spacer same thickness as that piece that woudl stick out and then run both starter bolts all teh way through teh tranny with nut on the end...i dont think it would cause any issues.

but how would you mount it to the block? the spacer would tamper with the distance between the tranny (input shaft) and block.
