Pics of the KA powered Mighty Midget...

Well, here goes...

Some of the specs for the car:

Engine...Stock KA from a 90 hardbody P/U

Tranny...Stock from same

Rear end...Stock from same, although I've had a little trouble identifying exactly which one it is, so far I think it's a c200

I've got an intake, plenum and throttle body from a 90 240. The P/U throttle body pointed straight up, so I would have had an air cleaner sticking through the hood about 6 inches or so.

It has a home made cai (PVC water pipe to be exact) but that is temporary till I get the turbo installed.

The radiator is a four row aluminum Nascar style, so far even in the central valley heat it's never gotten above 220 degrees, and I don't even have the fan installed yet.

The header is custom made by myself (unfortunately there is a distinct lack of kits for a KA powered Midget) as is the exhaust pipe.

Exaust pipe is Nascar inspired as well, since there wasn't enough room under the car to run a 2.5 inch pipe, I fabricated my own , the pipe is 1 inch tall and 6 inches wide and works awesome.

The seats are from an '04 Cavalier, I tried to put some racing buckets in it, but the shoulder bolsters were too wide.

I'm in the process of making an aluminum dash for it with a complete set of auto meter phantom guages.

As you can see from the pics, the car needs a lot of work still. I bought an english wheel few weeks ago and made a panel beater bag so I can make new fenders for the back (again, seems no one makes kits for this particular installation)

In case anyone's wondering, the hood scoop isn't there for looks, the valve cover actually sticks up through the hood about 2 inches, also, before anyone starts looking at all the different body parts, there are parts from about 5 different cars here ranging from 63 to 79, like I said, I've still got a lot of work to do on it.

I've had this car running for about a year now, and it works great, I drive it about 50 miles round trip to work every day and it hasn't given me a single problem. And incredibly enough also, even though I've had just about every branch of law enforcement behind me at some point or other, I still haven't been pulled over.

my suggestion. don't turbo it. Carb it instead. Then fabricate some kind of widebody fender to cover the wheels. That would get ppl question wtf is that on the road.

I was thinking, instead of fabricating fenders for the rear, would you be able to modify, say, some old street rod or motorcycle/trike fenders to fit?

With the way the car looks I'm feeling a widebody look as well. Another thing is DONT TURBO IT! Are you off your fucking rocker? At least,I wouldn't. Too much power isn't a good thing, hahahhaa. I can imagine its quick enough, but if you must. I would say to make a sweet ass ITB setup or carb setup. But I would rock a carb per cylinder approach w/sidedrafts,or itbs. But thats just me! Post some engine picks up!! Where did you mount the ecu?

Btw,that bitch looks so fucking badass right now

i think it's up to him. it depends on what he wants to do with the car. seems like he's building it to run wicked ET's on the quarter, so boosting would be cool.

but fuck, if you want to have that thing on the road course... you'd demolish other cars if you kept that thing NA and built it that way. but of course i'm sure you already knew that. either way, shit is gonna be fast, and the car is fucking crazy. keep up the good work. I'll be scared every time i go down the I-5 from now on

Hey all,

This is gonna be a short one, had a little accident at work yesterday, seems airplanes bite, so I'm typing this with one hand cuz the other arm is broken.

I actually traded an old 386 computer for the car, wich was in pretty bad shape and hadn't run since 89.

ITBs are pretty cool, but i'm still gonna go with the turbo cuz I'll be using the car as a daily driver, that way it'll still be nice and tame till I mash the loud pedal.

The drivetrain didn't really cost me anything since I already had it and I managed to sell the rest of the parts off the pickup for more than I paid for it.
