how to fix the O2 sensor coaxial cable?

I was going to change the exhaust gas temperature sensor. Then, I found this. The cable that leads into engine harness from O2 sensor connector was cut! It was not completely cut but outer layer and coil of the coaxial cable was but while inner core and inner coil remained intact.
So the circuit was open as a result. Now, I am driving without o2 sensor and the gas milege is worse than when the o2 sensor circuit was open.

I would like to know how I could fix this. Is fixing coaxial cable a lot harder than normal wire? I never have done this. What kinds of tools do I need and where should I get the spare coaxial cable?

the wire is shielded. the outside wire is simply a ground. as long as the inside is alright, just connevt the two peices of shielding and youll be good. it doesnt have to wrap around the wire, it just has to have a connection.

Thanks a lot for the advice.
What do you mean by "the two peices of shielding"?

The inner wire connect to the opposite end. tape and sheild it from the outer wiring.

Then, connect the outer "grounding" wires to the ones from the opposite end.
They don't have to be around the wire is what he was saying. Just as long as they connect.

exactly, just patch the shielding where its broken with a normal peice of wire. its how nissan does it to go through connectors, the shield turns into wire, then comes the connector, then the wire turns back into the shielding braid.

The O2 sensor on my RB has 3 wires coming off of it and none of them are shielded...I'm guessing this is bad?
