Wideband Meter Install PICS
Parts/Tools Needed:
AEM UEGO Wideband or Another Brand Zip Ties Electrical Tape 52mm Gauge Pod or Holder Wire Cutters Razor Blade Wrenches for Str8 Pipe or Cat removal Welder Drill Jack/Stands Okay well I bought the AEM UEGO Wideband, I am very happy with it. Actually I bought 5 of them and looks like I will be buying more since more people want them over here. The thing I didn’t like is it wasn’t supplied with a Gauge Pod or Holder so I went out and bought a 52mm One. You can see in this PIC everything the Wideband Meter kit came with: You have the Bosch Sensor, The Harness for the Sensor (which is long as hell), The Wideband Meter, The harness for Power, Ground, and data logging outputs, and my gauge holder I bought for 12 bucks or so). What you can’t see is the Bung that is required to install the Sensor, I had misplaced it. ![]() 1. Disconnect the Negative Battery Terminal since you will be messing with electrical stuff. 2. I decided I would mount my sensor in the Straight Pipe, I recommend this for many reasons, one of which is you can share with someone else if they need a tune…it makes a good package deal if you ever sell the wideband and most importantly it is out of the way. Other ideas are the down pipe or Turbo outlet pipe. SO you need to Jack the car up and take out the Straight Pipe ![]() 3. Once the straight pipe is out, you have to install the bung in it..best way is to drill a hole the size you will need for the sensor ![]() 4. Then since you are going to be welding a bung on the hole, sand it down so it is nice and smooth: ![]() 5. The place your Bung on top of the hole and weld it in place, then cool it down before going any further or trying to screw in the sensor. ![]() 6. Then once it is cool, put the Straight Pipe back in and install the sensor…no pic of this but you know what to do. 7. Then you need to run the Harness to the Sensor from the inside of the car. What I did was ran it through the shifter. You have to cut through the rubber Shift boot and push the wire through. ![]() 8. Its now a good idea to test fit your Gauge, I like it on the right side since my right eye is my strong Eye…Then hold both harnesses up to the Gauge, The Sensor Harness and the Power/Ground/Datalog Harness and see how much slack you are going to need for the harnesses exposed and running to the Meter. Don’t secure the gauge yet. ![]() 9. Now zip tie off as much of the Sensor harness you will not need and get it tucked up and out of the way. You can now concentrate on the Wires Harness. This is really easy, if you are not hooking up and data logging software it is just a power and ground wire. I ran the Power and Ground to the same wires as my Turbo Timer. Splice in, Twist the wires together, Solder the wires together, and tape them up nice and clean. Sorry this pic I just couldn’t focus, this is before I taped the wires up ![]() 10. Now all you have to do is tuck all the wires away, secure the gauge pod somehow. I used double sided tape for now, and start it up. Here is a pic of the installed unit. ![]() Next up, 550cc injector install

Well this is a write up so other options are welcome... How would you route the harness differently?

At least on the JDM 180SX, there is not an O2 Sensor behind the Turbo Outlet pipe (J-pipe). The onlt O2 Sensor is in the J Pipe. In the Cat there is a Temperature sensor which I havent used in over a year...
