Don't tell me I can't adjust the clutch cause it's a hydraulic clutch. I know there is a rod attached to the clutch pedal that you can adjust.
I took out the pin and got ready to turn the adjustment bar (thingy) but I can't get the piece that goes arount the pedal bar out to turn it. If that makes any sence at all. I'm really irritated from trying to figure this stupid thing out but I can't figure it out. Who has done this and how did they do it? thanks -Dave-

its simple.. if you screw the thing farther out from the pedal, then it goes into the slave cylinder with less pedal travel, and vice versa.. use a pair of plyers, it can be tedious to adjust.. keep in mind that you probably won't see a huge difference, and also if you adjust it in to far, you clutch might be slightly engaged and this will cause the clutch to slip, and reduce the throwout bearings life :/

Which thing do I screw? I tried to screw the thingy that went around the pedal but it won't turn cause it's still around the padal. Am I suppose to turn the bar that goes to the slave Sylinder. I'm trying to get it to catch closer to the floor Because right now It's catching way up at the top. That's where the guy at AAMCO adjusted it even after I told him I wanted it closer to the floor.

ok.. turn the bar that goes into the slave cylinder towards the slave cylinder, so that it goes in farther, 1 to 1 and half turns should do it.. let me try to get a picture
---|-------slavecylinder (firewall of car) the | is the pedal the ---- are the bar thats how yours is now, if you want the release to be lower down, ie you barely let off the pedal and it engages you want to do this -|---------slavecylinder(firewall of car)

Okay, first aamaco blows. Second, few mechanics know that the pedal has to be adjusted. There should be some freeplay before it disengages. I wouldn't drive the car much if I were you, and I'll tell my famous horror story of why <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'> When I bought my 240sx back in February, my mechanic said that the slave and master wwere leaking. He replaced them and all was good for a while. 3 days (maybe 120 miles) later, I was going up a hill and my car slowed down as my rpms shot up. I was new to stick so I didn't know what was happening. Clutch slip. I drove for 30 more miles till it died, right infront of aamaco. What luck. So I have them look at it. I need a new clutch. $500 dollars and 36 hours later, I have a new clutch (POS Napa clutch <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':angry:'> ). I don't even get 30 miles home and I am stranded again. I took it to another transmission sho in Franklin who looked it over for free. It took the guy 30 minutes to fix it. The problem? The first mechanic who changed my hydraulics screw up my pedal adjustment, so my clutch never disengaged. It killed my prefectly good clutch. Aamaco over looked it too. It took 3 mechanics to fix it. However, I was out $500 becasue the first mechanic bascially killed my clutch. So don't drive it much, but get it looked at ASAP! Did you fix your idle problem? Jeff

I got an entire new hydraulic system put in $495. The day I got it back my clutch started sliping. Another $456 for new clutch. Plust it's a stock clutch and soft as a baby's butt. Right now my clutch is fine except it catches to much towards the top for me. I like it to catch pretty damn close to the floor. I get better launches that way. (for me anyway) My idle is still messed up. Sucks about the clutch though. I used the remainded of my cash to buy a jack and some stands. Now I need an FSM. For now on, I am going to screw up my car, not some mechanic. Jeff
