Well i had a problem with my combination switch. my passenger high beams weren't working due to a problem with a connetction within the combination switch. If you have a problem with your lights i would try this before you go and replace to whole switch. This should work for most nissans.And it is completely free

-As you can see my passenger headlight is out ( with high beams applied)

-You first want to remove the actual switch from the steering column. There
are 4 screws holding the plastic covering together. These are located on the bottom of the plastic column.

- After you have removed the screws you can now pry the covering apart with a small screw driver.

- After prying the plastic away you will see the switch and two gold screws remove these and you will be able to remove the switch/

- Next on the back of the switch you will see a white box. Use a small screw driver and pry off the plastic cover.

- After prying the white cover off you will expose some copper connectors ( Dont know the actual name)

-These connectors usally are the culprate when the 2 on the left are touching (above) the low beams are applied when not touching the high beams are applied.(below)

- usally when a light starts to act up one of the connectors is either dirty or is bent out of place not allowing it to preform as it should.
- in my case the connector was dirty and had build up on it. it looked like this but with more build up.

- you can use rubbing alcohol or acetone to clean underneath the connector.MAKE SURE TO DISCONECT THE BATTERY BEFORE CLEANING IT

- After cleaning reconnect the battery and test to see if it works. Apply all the different settings of the lights low beams, flash, and high beams test it multiple times because if the light still goes out after say flashing them putting the high beams on the connector might be touching when it shouldn't. If this is the case you will have to play with it till it seems to work._ i ended up having to bend the high beam connector a little cause it was not disconecting right when it should.

-when you get it to work just put everything back together and your done!

- Finnal result Both high beams work! And i didn't have to buy a new switch!

total work time: 1-2 hrs

thanks for the quick tour of our contacts within the switch. I need to clean and or maybe repair mine. And for some reason, i also have a symptom of 1 highbeam coming on at times as well as 1 staying on too...

note to self: must fix it over the weekend

Yeh, I made a writeup on this exact subject, but what I don't understand is why don't you just unplug the switch, and bring it to your table where no electricity is involved, and you don't have to be a contortionist to repair a switch?
