BAD itll be WAY more trouble than its worth which is looks alone , your car is gonna bouce all over the place handle like crap and just downright not feel right. Its a ghetto solution to a drop that SHOULD NOT be done. save up some cash and get a good set of eibachs or somethin just dont cut. I hope a lot of ppl dont bite ur head off for this peace , good luck

im on cut springs and blown stock struts..
i dont think its that bad at all..whan i was at thunder hill i was drifting a lot better then
most of the people there..on the grip track i out drove the "advanced group"..
its the driver not the car..
having all that good stuff when you dont need it is a waste of money,,but if i had the
money i would get it..
you have to know your car first..

It's ok to cut dead coils off of springs that have them to make the ride a little bit lower. I've had cut springs before (on another car), and I am not at all ashamed to say that they did their job very well.

BSeay, please explain how cutting your springs would wear your tires out more than dropping the car the same amount on coilovers... I'd like to hear this new physics you just invented. Get an alignment, and all will be good.

And I too want to see pics of that 5" slammed 240... interesting, you might as well run no springs at all because you'll have 0 suspension travel on stock struts at that height.

MOST of the cars i've seen on cut springs the camber is all fuked up.... and the inside wears ALOT faster therefore having to buy new tires. But with a camber kit he could avoid this, but he wont even buy springs let alone a camber kit. I mean it's your car do what you want, i personally wouldnt do it... but hey it's your car..

Camber and toe will change the same when you lower a car, no matter what you use to lower it. That's what I was getting at.

you really have no idea of what you're talking about. camber DOES NOT create abnormal wear during normal use. by lowering the car the toe and camber will change but it's the toe that will kill the tires. take it over to the alignment place and have them straighten the toe. ta-da.

i've seen cut springs serve their purpose very well. it depends on how much you cut off and the condition of your shocks.

Yea man cut your springs. Its the best way to lower your car. Also you get a great ride it gets so bouncy. I wish i though about keeping my blown shocks, and cutting my stock springs b4 i spent all that money on new shocks and springs.

Honestly though.....if you don't have the money DONT be stupid and ghetto and rice the car out by cutting stock springs.

Go buy a 89 crx and do it.

cut springs work very well on my 86, it actually increased the spring rate. On the 240 though i would just say wait it out untill you can afford something decent. Learning you driving/weight transfer skills with stock suspension works well

I have KYB AGX and whiteline springs. I am wanting to drop it about an inch lower. I plan on using a dremel to cut them. But I don't know if I should cut from the bottom or top in the front or rear.

Input from people with successfully cut springs and a good ride would be appreciated.

Yes, drastically cut OEM springs on stock strust will always suck. But I am talking about cutting 1" off or stiff springs with quality adjustable dampers. So do I cut the bottom coil off or the top?
