Retrofitting HID projectors into kouki s14
Ok guys, heres how you can retrofit projectors into your s14:
http://www.turntableteknicianz.com/c.../S14%20HID.htm The projector the guy uses isn't as bright as the s2000 projectors but they are still HIDs. If you guys want to see pics of the 240sx with s2000 projectors, I posted pics here: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=70534 |

don't want to bust anyone's bubble, but the first retro is poop. there are more black spots int the beam pattern than I care to shake a stick at.

thats because he used and auid bi-xenon. Those are dot spec and are shitty. for dot spec, s2000, tl, tsx, evo8, fx/murano are teh way to go. For the german projectors, its better to get their ece counterparts. The only problem is you won't be dot compliant but they will be better than their dot counterpart.

It's gotta be another reason besides that because I've seen tons of bi-xenon retros, from audis and bmws that had way better beam patterns than that.

Most h1 HID kits for the s14a work very well, my cutoff pattern seems as good as the HID retrofit, people don't complain about me blinding them when tailing.

Yeah, I know H1 HID "kits" may look nice, but the amount of usable light that is put on the road is nothing compared to projectors specifically designed for HID.
Also, those dark spots have to be due to the projector. There are NUMEROUS different kinds of projectors and most likely those above are not e-codes. Also, those dark spots are most likely not caused by the retrofit...the retrofit really isn't too complicated. |
