Z32 Maf Upgrade

Upgarding to a larger Z32 air flow meter!
For those looking to enhance the BHP to over 300 horses, it's a good idea to upgrade their air flow meter to a larger unit like the one from Z32 (300ZX). The basic stock airflow meter is good up to 300BHP anyway and the Z32 is useable up to at least 500BHP.

The Z32 have a 80mm diameter surface area opening for the compressor to suck the air in. Wwiring wise is pretty straight forward if you have a steady hand and knows how to use a solding tip.

Of coz , along with bigger injectors and turbo, the larger unit definitely sees its usefulness.

You will need either an Apexi SAFC or a fully programmable ECU to control this. Using the larger air flow meter without any supoorting means will give your S13 and erratic idle and power.

S13/S14 MAF Connector Z32 MAF Connector
Wire the MAFS in like the diagram below.
The 12V+ wire on the CA18 is black with a white stripe. The negative(-) is all black.
The signal wire is like orange . The Z32 have two ground. Just twist the two ground together and connect to the negative.

Then on the S-AFC, go into the SENSOR TYPE menu and select HOT WIRE. After that, calibrate it (email me for calibration).
That's it! It should run perfectly, just make sure you have the MAFS hooked up properly.

That is good to know about which mafs have which part numbers and what size they are. I also found a couple of shops that stock the tomei z32 maf plugs incase you were unlucky enough to buy a good maf with out a plug. They are around $30 + shipping. http://jspec.com/z32adaptor.html , http://www.store.yahoo.com/phase2mot...z32masplu.html I have also seen a few places on ebay that sell the mafs filter adaptor for $16 shipped or less. I just bought one pretty nice quality and comes with a gasket.

omg i didnt know that you could use a z32 maf with sr20det thanks, ok fine sorry im such a dick, but acutally im glad you posted that, I used that pic when I did it, and then lost it, it is a valuable diagram because so many people ask this same question of how its wired, and nowi can save it to my computer.

btw that is not a T'ed off connection, it is simply a label arrow. If I am correct that other ground is not necessary but dont quote me on that.

damn i just realized that, but only cuz i didnt search then bring it back from the dead, I assume any current topics arent revived, I shall assume no more. but anyway that explains someone posting about the z32 maf upgrade, and not having the first 8 posts be flames, cuz 2 years ago this shit was relevant. haha.

Sheesh chill out...obviously he searched and didnt find the right answer. Would you rather have him start another post asking the same BULLSHIT question *deet deee deeeeeee* wherd duz da blak wire go?

Anyways heres something to help you out.

Just read up on the wiring and GROUND the wire as close as possible to the MAF. Make sure you clean up and strip the paint of the chassis on wherever your hooking up the ground.
