PS fluid will eventually damage the pump and rack.

Congratulations on the receipt of your brain.
Yes, 240s have power steering. Most cars do. However, that doesn't mean they're designed to operate on thick, heavy power steering fluid. Most import cars use ATF because it's thinner, has a higher viscosity, and doesn't breakdown as fast. Plus it has anti-corrosion products in it to reduce buildup and varnish inside the lines and rack. Using straight PS fluid will gum up the lines and increase friction, wearing the gears in the rack and the bearing in the pump.

Why not run Nissan power steering fluid?

Then there are no questions about compatibility.

You can, but Nissan PS fluid is Dexron III ATF.

May as well save the extra $3-5.

ALL Nissan cars (mid 80s and up at least) use Dexron III ATF for PS.

I just use OEM fluids everywhere, except oil (Mobile1) and usually I have no problems.
