Out with the old..

Well, the time had finally come this weekend when I would make some progress with my 240.. My dd is up and running so now I can finally focus on my 240..

out with the old:

in with the new:

s15 t28
tomei expreme manifold
tomei expreme turbo elbo
taka lines

The difference between the stock setup and what I have now is amazing.. night and day between stock and the t28.. Im glad I have some z32 brakes to install because im going to need them..

After a few test runs last night I noticed at times my boost controller (blitz dual sbc) would read 0.00kg then jump to 0.87kg.. with no in between.. so I guess a new boost controller/gauge will be the next on the list.. before I finish up the engine tune.. What do you guys think would be my best direction as far as a combination boost gauge/controller? I had my eye on the HKS Evc 6, but the price is the only thing holding me back..

Great setup - going from stock to tube mani/t28/3" elbow must have been quite the rush What I want to know is did you have to un-tighten the elbow to get it past the steering shaft when you dropped the whole thing in there? Cause it just made my heart sank to see it all assembled on the bench, and envision you having to take it apart to put it in >.<

There's a power enterprise boost controller on the FS forum right now, that's a favorite. All the HKS stuff is reliable though, and if you want something big and flashy you can find Profec B Spec IIs for cheap sometimes.

I took that pic right before I dropped it all in.. there was no problems with the steering arm, it fit perfect.. it was actually easier to take in and out than the stock setup..
but ive not noticed a leek from the oil feed line and water feed line..

well.. it pulled and spooled much harder and faster.. I could feel the power all the way to redline.. and the boost would hold, unlike with my t25..

i aim for 280whp.. I plan to get 555cc injectors and either a power fc d-jetro or z32 mafs and a rom tune..

how much boost are you planning to run?

some people say it only could hold up to 1 bar, and may need upgraded hks actuator if you want to boost 16-17psi which the s15 t28 can handle fine

i know what you mean about the power to redline, it rawks!!!
but seems like the t25 kicks in soooo much faster, (but then just falls flat on its face)

right now i'm only putting in 255 whp with s15 t28, 555cc, pfc, z32 maf, but that's without a "real" tune (need my ignition maps changed)...

More of these type of thread, less stupid questions about wheel fitment please. Nice setup kaotic. I've also have been preocuppied with other matters and the daily beater but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and can't wait to start messing with the S13 again.
Looking forward to tunning updates and dyno details.

I notice that almost no one on this forum goes with a boost gauge and manual boost controller. People on here tend to prefer the EBC setups. My question is why? The MBC and gauge is cheaper than an EBC/gauge setup and more reliable IMO. My recommendation is forge or another well known company manual boost controller and a boost gauge. Fix your leaks, get a tune, set it and forget it!

I believe if you take a look at any dyno printout showing a boost curve of a EBC controlled wastegate vs MBC controlled you'll see right away that the solenoid controlled EBC builds boost quickly to the preset boost level and flattens out all the way across the board... MBC will spike higher then fluctuate up and down throughout the rev range.
