RB25DET BOV Question *PIX*

Okay guys, heres my dilemma. I got an rb25 sitting in my chassis right now with a Greddy manifold. Its pretty much installed but with the greddy manifold, I had to redo the piping all over again.

Now that the piping is finised, I need to mount my BOV. I have an apexi twin chamber but there is no way for it to recirc. Mite have to buy another one.

This side near Throttle body

Or this side hear Maf

I also gotta get a pipe welded here

and maybe one here to recirculate (meaning new BOV)

I was wondering if I could vent into atmosphere and have my power FC be tuned to not stall the car.

its a shitty pic but you can see it right by the throttle body, and next to the battery.

recirculated BOV or vented? How well does it idle this way?

Open Air right there.

I did it with a stock Rb25 BOV, but it was leaking like a Bish, so Im replacing it with a Greddy or Apexi

+1.

You don't really NEED to recirc. If idle is all you're worried about, you'll be fine if the BOV is adjusted properly and you don't have any leaks anywhere else.

i'm running power fc on my rb25 as well. my z32 mass air flow is in my intercooler pipe about 10 inches from my throttle body, then my bov is almost a foot in front of my maf on the intercooler pipe right next to the intercooler. if you didn't have any tunability i'd say put it on the turbo's intake hose but since you do and your concerns are idling. this is the best way. it's called blow through.

the benefits. my base idle is set to 850rpm. i hit 7300 rpm @ 22 psi and let off and the idle drops to 850 and idles there perfectly, no bogging, no having to feather the gas pedal to keep the car alive. if a vacuum line or intercooler pipe pops off the car will still drive fine and i can pull over and fix it wherever i want. also the turbo can ingest air freely from the intake/air filter without the damn maf in the way, which actually my turbo kicks in about 200 rpm sooner than it did before. the blow off valve is in front of the maf so it can do whatever the hell it wants and every bit of air or lack of air entering the motor is measured instead of measured air being released from the bov after the maf and the car idling like crap. i don't have an idle air control valve on my car either as it's not necessary, i'm running the GReddy intake as well with a blitz atmospheric bov. our set ups are basically the same. DO A BLOW THROUGH and your car will idle perfectly and you won't get that hesitation inbetween gears (usually first and second) when you're getting on it. yes you want your bov on the throttle body side of the intercooler piping, it makes it way more responsive. yes you will need to tune your car for the blow through set up, but since you have a power fc you were planning on tuning it anyways. good luck =]

dude, just put it where you have room. its not that big of a deal. MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY people run bov without recirc and it works fine, some leak and may cause a slightly weak idle, but just get a good bov and your find.. find a place and mount it

i wouldn't worry about it too much, but i would also worry about running rich between shifts if you run an atmospheric bov

Another concern I had was running rich. Cant that be changed when tuning?

Just put your BOV closest to the TB and get it done. You have a PFC, you don't need to worry about bad idle. If your BOV is going to leak it's going to leak, it's not a question of placement, it's a question of quality, or setting it up to open and close properly. A non-recirc'd BOV cause's the car to die because the MAFS is correcting for air coming back through the intake, so it adds fuel causing the car to run on the rich side, sometimes flooding it out. With the PFC it no longer has that issue so it doesn't need to be recirculated. Install it and get it on the road.

Oh, for cooling as of rite now, 3 slim fans off egay. two pushers and one puller. Wanted to see how well they did. Stock radiator, gonna customize some cooling panels on top and on bottom to see how well that goes. Yes coolant mix. Nismo cap to hold better pressure and nismo thermo. Ill upgrade the rest of the cooling later after i see how well everything goes.

looking at this website, i wanted to check out how well cooling panels will work. If all fails, Ill buy some FAL fans and a Koyo.

what you circled will work but that's not what i was saying.

put your maf a couple inches from the throttle body, then put your bov where it'll fit a couple inches in front of your maf. your car will run rich until you get it tuned. but why mod a car that's not tuned for the mods? GET IT TUNED, enjoy the benefits of your mods, and know you're running __ pounds of boost safely and making ____ horsepower.

you want the bov as close to the throttle body as possible but you also want your maf after your bov so it can measure what the bov is doing. put the bov by the intercooler on the throttle body side of the piping. and put your maf a couple inches in front of your throttle body. g/l

You're talking about a hacked MAFS...he doesn't need it. The PFC eliminates the problem when running an atmospheric BOV. Even an SAFC would work fine for it. Just put it near the throttle body and be done with it. Its installing a BOV not rocket science.
