well guys i put my collars on today! got the front driver and both the back ones before i started to do the pass side front. finished the back 2 and the driver side front. started on the pass front and well got the bottom on and the top had a fat ass piece of rubber that wouldnt let the collar go in on top! so i just said fuck it! and tightened it back all together! took it for some nice ass slides today and it did a little better but then it made a fat loud ass clunk! (not as often) so i tell caden636 (chuck) and he says tighten it up more so i do and it still does it. so i go back and take out the pass side bottom (no bushings on the pass side front) and tightened up the 2 diff bolts (thought it was it) and now it doesnt do it hard at all very soft and often! so i think it just may need that top on on there to get the loud clunk and such gone. anyone??? help is needed! thx

i installed the collars and it doesnt move the rear end but makes a loud clunk when i power shift into 3rd... but is there a way i can take some out (like the drift setup in link provided) and make it not clunkat all when i power shift?

i had the same exact problem my rubber bushing wasnt dropping down so i hear that clunk noise 2. Now im just upgrading to aluminum bushings.

loosen all 4 nuts on the subframe to lower it enough. may have to use a pry bar to help pull the subframe down. It took me no longer than 10mins to install mine. The noise most hear is most likely coming from the collars and the frame (metal to metal) when shifting. if you look at the top theres now the spacer instead of the bushings right?

right ^^^. but no i was wondering does the louder clunk in my rear end fixable or what? like i took the pass side front collars out and the noise is quieter and does it a little more often then the loud clunk. there any collars out there to fix that or no?

You may have some noises coming from your diif or driveline. Remember always theres a price to play. Stiffen up your suspension with coilovers/etc then you'll have a harsher ride than stock, solid motor mounts then you may have more vibrations. Honestly if you really hate noises and what not, replaced the subframe bushings and install new ones or some polyurenthane if they have it out.

I ran across this issue on installing spacers long time ago on my friends s14. Basically when you lower the subframe the bolt on the subframe is visible etc. But in his case and yours the bolt on the subframe is seized to the oe bushing sleeve and has torn off upwards exposing the bolt with rubber around it. The diameter of the bolt is now larger due to rubber and the slotted bushing won't slide into place due to the rubber.You can just hack away at some of the rubber and slide the collar in and be done.
You lessend the stock clunk but there is still some play(clunk) to be cleaned up by installing the top slotted collars.

ok thx! actual help. so how do i hack away at the access rubber? burn it off or what? and ya it lessened the stock clunk but like u say i dont think it will be gone fully til i install that last one.. but i took that whole side out (front passenger) until i get away to get that top in

well anyone know how to get the top collar on if the bolt is surrounded by the rubber? thats the only thing from gettin to me finish my other side.... lmk cuz i wanna get it done. like lower it hellas then us wd40 then a pry bar from what i was under the impression about... idk anyone?????

anyone know how to get the rubber off the bolt? thats the only thing keeping me from getting this done. the subframe will lower all the way around but its rubber stuck around the bolt

I did the install today, HOLY FUCK the rear bolts are hard to break loose.
I couldn't get the things off, even after being slathered in PB blaster repeatedly. So I just installed the front spacers, i don't think it'll be a problem to not have the rears on for a couple days, would it? I gotta get a decent air ratchet...

soo im lil confused with this poseted but what im understanding is that you guys are getting clunking noises from the spl subfram spacers becasue the rear subfram spacer si not going in all the way but after it does it doesnt make the clunking noise anymore....casue im gonna get the spacers also and also wanted to know if it makes a pretty good diff on how the car handles and i deffinitly dont want that clunky noise

i only have 2 of the spacers in but i already feel a difference. bummer is, i have to wait till next week to finish and get the other two in...

btw, anyone have impact gun recommendations? cheaper the better...

I remember when i was throwing mine on. It was a BITCH to get those bolts off. I started stripping the edges of the bolt, even with a huge breaker bar. Pissed me off nicely.

I ended up just using a buddy's impact gun from Harbor Freight. Only a few bucks, worked like a charm.

ok im just unclear about some of the stuff in this thred. I know, i dont wanna get flamed just want some info. Now right now my rear sub makes a shit lotta noise, I just wanna but the right thing here. There are no new bushings or collars or anything installed at this time. If I got the slotted collars, and installed both upper and lower ones, will I eliminate the loud bang that i get now, or should i just opt for some new bushings all together and the collars or solid rear bushing? etc.

It all depends where your banging is comming from... but if it's because your bushings are shot the collars should solve your problem.
