s14 Simple Question: j30 lsd in s14 . . .

hi, i'm a new and proud owner of a 1995 240sx se 5spd and i live in the seattle area. i was wondering what exactly i need in order to install a j30 lsd, and seeing as i am rather low on $$, is it cheaper to get a used s14 unit from japan? I know it doesn't fit right in, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard . . .

search is your friend. well l covered topic but Im bored so I'll induldge you just this once. after this search.

depends on the year. 96+ bolts right in 95- either need the axels as well or sideshafts from a VLSD equipped Schassis

he was talking about 96 + s14 vlsd,

95 + j30 rear end is a pretty much bolt in affair for an s14
some say you need washers...some say drive shaft has a lil play where it bolts to diff...but for most part ive heard it goes right in

Washers are for installing J30, S14, or 300ZX diffs into S13s.

The play is actually a lack of play after the diff is installed, because of the ABS sensor.

junkyard. i have a 95 j30 in my 95 s14. fits right in. was a !@$#% to install. but it fit nice and tight, due to the abs sensor. make sure if you do the install yourself, get a buddy or 2 to help you out. not as easy as i thouhgt it would be. heres more info. click

95 and up bolt in . pre 95 you need the axles . Or 6 bolt output shafts for VLSD . Or if you are really crafty with a lathe and grinder you could make your stock output shafts work but its a pita of machine work.
