s13 Whining/Screaming

have a CA18DET, all stock except everything listed below. I've been driving it the past month and its been running/driving/boosting fine. Started it up today, took my friend home, no problems.. a few minutes later, i noticed that when i would start hitting boost, there was this whinning/screaming noise like a supercharger or something? oil level, pressure, and temperature are all good. turning the elec. fan on/off didn't help, and it does it primarely in gear, and a little bit at around 6-7k in neutral. any ideas? after searching some i think it may be the turbo-manifold gasket?

also, no power steering or A/C, and does flucuate with boost. very minimal shaft play, no boost/vac leaks, and no BOV (like factory).

still sounds to me like a boost leak.

Not a boost leak most likely - possibly an exhaust leak (small)... if it's only in boost and high rpm in neutral, could be a turbo problem. When the blades scrape the housing, it sounds like 'screaming'/whining.

You should take the intake pipe off and check for shaft play.

Haha, your tried to use RTV on a turbo gasket?

Go to your local Nissan dealer, order the metal exhaust gaskets (4 bolt and 5 bolt) for a 300zx TT, or order them online from Courtesyparts.com or mynismo.com - you can't really troubleshoot noises when you have loud ass exhaust leaks.

As far as boost leaks, I've never heard one that sounds like a "death whine", but who knows?

Ohhh, ok. RTV has worked well for me there, because there's on vibration.

Still don't think it should be making that noise if everything's torqued down tighter than 'hand tight' lol.
