oil pressure problem!

motor :ka24de-t

so driving today seen the oil pressure gauge was bouncing from 40-60psi traveling in 5th @60mph..

i try to get on it to give it more oil pressure but it doesn't go past 60psi. and it still bounces from 40-60psi.

checked my oil b/c im due for a oil change.. turns out i was low, put in 1qt. and started the car up. the oil pressure seemed fine. reved it, oil pressure when to over 80psi. and it was stable.

drove for 1/2 hr mixed driving, and it started to do it again.. bouncing form 40-60psi..

im thinking it may be a spun bearing.. any other reason?

btw the gauges are defi. so is it a possibility that maybe the sending unit or something is bad? but i only does it some times.. and when the car is idling. its at 20psi stable oil pressure..

sounds like a loose ground wire for the sending unit. or something else is loose.

why do you think it's the spun bearing?

check the free/inexpensive things first.

How much oil do you have. My SR would do that when its low on oil. When i say low, its barely registering on the dipstick low.

lol im glad im not the only one that lets the oil get that low..

it was like that as well bearly registers on the dip stick. but i added a full qt. and the oil pressure stablized. but whats wierd is around 2 hr apx. 60miles later it started to do it again. my car burns oil but not 1qt in 2hrs. maybe 1qt in 2 weeks.. and i dont see any puddles of oil under my car or anything.. im due for a oil change

I just checked my oil yesterday, and it was pretty damn low yet i have no oil leaks what so ever. Kinda weird... Mind you have been driving it hard on the highways for almost 2 weeks probably burnt it off or something. These SR's get hot as hell...

Steve.

you sir have a blown head gasket.

well the evidence would point to that, but maybe you're lucky maybe you just have an oil leak and a coolant leak at teh same time.

now you have to inspect where the leak is coming from. if its' coming from between the head and the engine, yup...but if somewhere else, iono.
