San Diego Club Racing Season 2 starts Feb 21.

This is the second season of SDclubracing.com (first season was a smash hit with everyone who participated!) and im just posting to see if any of you wanted in on this local and fun racing event. It's also a great alternative to keep it off the streets.
If you are not interested in racing ur car, you are welcome to come join us and just watch, or help out as this is all a non-profit event. If you are just watching, you can also get rides, at both the drag racing and autocross portion of the events. I'm also looking for some sponsors to help with trophies, stickers etc. It doesn't take much to sponsor this event.

If you guys want, please feel free to spread the word out to other forums, your friends, family, and clubs. I'm trying to get some Honda's and other makes in the lineup for next season. Seems like I'm getting alot of nissan's lately. I just want some diversity All car makes and both guys and girls are welcome! We are trying to keep it at 2wd for now, but we may start up a seperate class for AWD in the near future! thank you!

Check out the rules for season two. you will find the 2nd drag race and autocross have very interesting rules.

The 3rd Race is at Barona Drag Strip, Saturday April 3rd, 2010 7pm-12am,
We will change things up a little; All 3 timed passes and reaction times, will be added up to get a total number that will represent your points position for this event. any time you "red light" or jump the gun, you will get penalized. That lap time will be exchanged for the slowest, legit, pass time of the day plus 2 seconds. Doesn't sound like much, but if you screw up the launch and leave too early it will really mess up your chance of winning, even in an 8 second car compared to a 9-10 second car. It really puts on the pressure for everyone to push hard, and be consistent without jumping the gun. This is a special twist in rules similar in taste to bracket racing, but at the same time, new and more exciting.

Final Race is Autocross at Qualcomm Stadium- Sunday, May 16th 2010 Tech and Registration 8am-12:30pm
First car out at 9am.
We are doing rally style timing for the second Autocross.
All runs will be scored. The winner is determined by the lowest cumulative time. If a competitor does not finish a run (DNF) they will receive a default time. This time will be determined by timing and scoring using the slowest competitor’s time in class and run plus ten (10) seconds.

All the runs are added up together, including cone penalties and you will be penalized heavily for a DNF. Avoid getting a DNF at all cost! It's like as if you drove off a cliff, hit a guard rail, went off the road or hit a tree in a real world situation. Hitting cones can also ruin your day as they add 2 seconds each to your total time.

If you get a DNF, that means you took a shortcut or went off course without returning in the same exact location as you exited, or you took the slalom out of sequence or missed a gate etc. So in most cases its actually better to hit a cone or two, or take less chances to avoid getting a DNF. Smoothness, skill and consistency will get you a win in the second event. The driver who gets a quick time in only one or two of his laps, but was sloppy, spun out, DNF'd or screwed up in the other laps, may not do so well in this race.

as you can see, its not all about the fast car. the first 2 races are catered to traditional rules, and those who have never raced. the second set are to mix things up a little.

is it too late to register for the event on the 21st? what sort of things will they be looking out for in the tech inspection im very interested

Yes, registration is still open. I encourage those who are interested in signing up, to please do so beforehand. as I would like to save time for helping those new to racing on the day of the event. But it is always open up untill the last event.

in tech, they are looking to see if your brake pedal sinks to the floor, if your wheels are falling off, fluids leaking out everywhere, coolant overflow tank, battery hold down. etc.
