What is it Worth - 1997 Deep Fuchsia 240SX SE

Looking to get a ball park on what my car is worth, any input would be great. Thanks in advance and hope this is not breaking any posting rules.

This car came up from Florida a few years ago and has no rust, frame or body damage with a clean Car Fax. There are a few door dings and scuffs but nothing major on the car. All original down to the cassette player, muffler and air filter. I just put new brakes, valve cover gasket and changed the oil. The heat and AC work great and everything works with no problems.

More detailed pics - http://s942.photobucket.com/albums/ad266/LePun/

SE model
125k miles
Rare color this year - Deep Fuchsia
5 Lug 16" alloy wheels
Power Moonroof
Interior is perfect nor rips, tears, or wear
Automatic
Power locks
New rotors and ceramic pads
Tires have about 70% tread left on them but have a few cracks
Full tints

Thanks

Yeah I figured whoever would buy it would be building it and pull the auto anyways. Great car it has been my daily for 8 months with no issues and I need something with more room for hauling stuff (chicks, dogs, dead hookers). hate to see such a clean car get all beat up in Chicago winters.

I might be wrong but starfire blue might be the rarest color. Either way that's the color of my first zenki and I love it. Very clean car, and I'd agree on the ~5k range, but not much less. Good luck with sale

Dark Fuschia (LS1 color code) is indeed the rarest with Starfire Blue coming in second. The Dark Fuschia color was only offered for one year with that being 1997. Most people believe there were less than 100 made in the color.

I tried selling mine about 5 months ago and had no luck, same condition as yours...even dropped the price to 4k (lost my job and needed to sell it)! I got alot of "only if it was a manual" and "you live too far away" I decided to just keep it and glad I did.

GLWS! Someone should jump on this clean rare kouki!

You are somewhat correct. Dark Fuschia and Starfire Blue colors were both dropped after January 1998.

Makes me wonder how many were made during that one month run in 1998.

An equivalent Chicago car will have more rust so you are at an advantage with this southern car. Nice colour too! GLWS

kbb should not decide the value of this car. For dealerships I understand they basically revolve around kbb but more often than not I would have people who really know this car judge it especially in this condition. kbb will probably underprice it. They also dont factor in rarity on this car as much

zilvia and drift tax has driven prices up just like the housing bubble that burst.

smart people know where to find them cheap. i just saw a pearl white 97 5spd w/ 132k sell for 2750.

i know its a rare color, but its not like a 240 is a collectors car.

and maybe this should be obvious, but a bank will only lend up to
KBB value, just because its a rare color doesnt make it worth more UNTIL it turns into a classic car i.e. 60s or 70s muscle car all original numbers matching.

i'm a realist. he asked the value, i gave him my honest opinion.

if he can sell it for 6500, GOOD FOR HIM!

Not true. Many banks take into account that KBB is GROSSLY outdated and extremely inaccurate on some cars. They arent going to loan you $15k for the thing, but most banks are reasonable with what they will loan you, assuming your credit is good.

But at the end of the day you probably shouldnt be financing a $5k car.

You are not a realist, you are a lowballing dick. I highly doubt your story of the 2750 kouki, unless it was a shell. Kbb lists his car at 4750 with very good condition. Drift tax and zilvia have nothing to do with this. I'm sure someone that had no idea what drifting is and is just buying a car to drive would gladly pay ~5k fir this car. OP, not a cent lower than 5k. Clearly, you will be low balled, but just ignore them.
