s14 s13 and s14 Blacktop?Diffrence?

Does anyone know if there is a diffrence between a s13 and a s14 blacktop. I have a s14 and i want to do a swap and dident know if it was simpler to use a s14 motor. never done this swap befor. and what kind of diffrence is there between the red top and black top. Bigger mains, cams, valves??? thanks.

Search the forums...There's a lot of info. out there on this topic here on Zilvia.

Briefly, the S13 motor is suggested for use if u want high horsepower. If you've seen signal auto's motors, they're S13's with phat ass turbo's. The S13 Black and Redtop have T25 turbo's no VTC.

If you're streeting with mild power and not planning on some outrageous mods. an S14/S15 motor is excellent. T28 stock turbo. The motor is strong with a VTC system.

Yet, that's another reason y it's not recommended for high horsepower. The VTC system loses it's effectiveness as soon as you hit high #'s.

But, either way you go S13 or S14/S15. The SR20 is the best, high-revving platform for performance. So you're in good shape!
