S14 diff removal/ drive shaft bolt problems
Hey guys I'm trying to remove my differential so I can replace my bushings. So my car is a 96 abs model.
I can't get a box wrench in the nut side because the stud sticks out to far. I have to use an open wrench but they start to round off. Does anyone have any helpful ideas. I thought about buying a boxed wrench and grinding it a little bit and be able to slip between the stud and the diff but don't know. Some models don't have the studs sticking out so far I think they are the abs models but not sure, the non abs seem to have enough room to put a boxed wrench in with no problem |

Use a socket and a ratchet.

Chaluska that's probably what I was going to end up doing. I tried all the open ends I could find. But these are the only nuts I came across that where difficult
Codyace im talking about the 14mm side. I don't recall the 17mm side. But then again I haven't tried taking the bolt off since 6 months ago when I did my subframe bushings. I'll take another look tomorrow Thanks for all the quick replys! |

do you have a grinder?
go pick up a 6-sided 14mm wrench, and grind it until it can slide in there.. that's what i did with my S14.. thats the only real option there is... but on the flip side, i have never had an issue using the open end on all of my other cars. always seems to get to the point of slipping, and then they break loose.

Crows foot wrench.
Also, soak that shit with pb blaster and clean the threads as much as you can with a wire brush or a pick. |

Ahhh I was a little sauced up.
There was just a thread on this not to long ago I helped post in. Use the double wrench technique, and lock the driveshaft with ebrake/in gear/long screwdriver through the U joint jammed against the car.
