HELP!!! CUSCO Drift Button Install...not so easy

Wassup everybody, I just got my CUSCO Drift Button in the mail today. So I immediately open it up, check it out and go out to my car to install it. I had read (either on this forum or another) that several people simply slide the knob over the stock hand brake release button. Well....it went about half way down and wouldnt go down any farther, and it was acting like it should. Meaning that i wasnt able to have the button stay in and freely use the handbrake and push it back out when I wanted to use the hand brake for parking. So as I am wrestling the knob off of my handbrake the whole assembly decides to give way before the drift knob does. So I had a perfect, working handbrake turn into a handbrake with a button, spring and rod exposed on it. So I decide to do what every guy does and take it apart, but not before I go onto JSpec.com and check out their instructions. I took off the center console and the boot around the brake. I decide to go ahead and try following Jspecs instructions at this point....which rendered totally useless because I had somehow fuqd up the handbrake assembly. So as my car sits right now, I have to drift button on and a handbrake that has the release button sticking out all the way and no locking feature.
What I think happened is that I somehow pulled the spring out that locks the lever onto the gear when you pull it up. Has anybody had this problem, or would anyone know how to fix it? I would like to get my Drift Knob installed, but not before I fix my handbrake. Can anybody help me out with this? Also, what are some other peoples impressions of their drift knob?

Thanks guys
Joe

you installed it upside down
less angle.
the buttno is making you do 360s
turn it 45 degrees and you can adjus left and right drifts

every drift car needs a drift button
its TYTE

mine, i jus tpush it 1/2 way and i drift right turns
full way and its left turns
its NUTS i love it!!

mmm, i had richard jdm rice install mine at a drift event a while back. he came in with a flathead, in and out in like 10 seconds before i even realized he was doing something. No joke, one twist pulled off the boot and a shimmy of the screwdriver got the tab out of the way. boot back on. spin turn knob on. and bam. i was like wow. he said he had the magic touch... ok... but anyway. The knob is supposed to move pretty freely. I don't understand what you did with the above discription, but, i dunno have someone who's done it before look at it. Do you have a camera? that might help in discribing what went wrong and give us a clue on how you can put it back together (the handbrake).

i find it convient sometimes, and funny when some of my dad's mechanics can't figure out how to use it/disengage the ebrake. only problem i've had with it so far is that it expands and contracts with heat (at least mine does) and it comes off once in a while. not a biggie.

I think you have to take the spring and button off anyway, then just replace the button with the drift knob without the spring.

So I guess I somehow lost the spring that pushes against the locking lever. Tomorrow I'm going to get another one and replace it...I'll see if that works.

Dousan_PG: I flipped it around and it works beautifully. All I gotta do is just push the little button and the car automatically starts drifting. I just take my hands off the wheel, push the button and drift away....

does anybody know if it is a spring that pushes the locking lever forward? I searched my car and couldnt find a misc spring anywhere, also there is no obvious place to put a spring. Any sorta feedback(except negative and/or stupid [Dousan_PG]) is wanted

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY YEARS OF DRIFT ENTHUSIASM THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD THE SPIN TURN KNOB CALLED A "DRIFT BUTTON". . . . . . . . . . COMEDY. (Must be another one new to the realm).
