OBD-I and OBD-II Q's

Well i have a obd-i 91 240 in need of a new motor, and im looking to get a low milage motor from a s14 either 95obdi or 96+obd-ii. I have acess to a obd-ii 96 ka motor with like 40k and i was wondering if i can still run obd-i emissions and still pass ca smog with out throwing codes and stuff, ive heard that u can still run obd-i on a obd-ii ka just have to use all the obd-i emissions stuff. Im not trying to get a sr swap or anything just looking for a replacement and since i have acess to a 96ka i was wondering if id run into any problems with running obd-i. also i would be using s13 harness, distributor, ecu, lower and upper intake manifold, and exhaust manifold right? Ive been askign around and getting a lot of mixed responses. Hey var i hope u see this! i was gonna call u but i dotn have ur #

well if u dont i might be interested in buying that 96 engine.... i want to start building up an engine on the side so i can swap it out later on and run more boost

I dont understand why people keep calling S13's OBDI they aren't. Have you ever seen a OBD port on a S13, anyone? There is just the Nissan Consult port. They arent OBD anything.

Only early 95 S14s were OBDI.

But to answer your question, yes it will work, just use S13 everything (ecu, harness sensors, intake mani)

hmm ok i guess that answers my question. i guess ill pick up that 96 motor and run all the s13 stuff. and hopefully it will pass ca smog and state ref

wassup jason.! the engine itself should work ok (i think) if you hook up the right sensors to it. otherwise it's a big piece of metal.

as far as s13 being OBDI..not sure but. ...they do have a diagnostic port. But it is not a universal one like OBDII

koo! well i actually found a coupe with a 95 motor with 75k, so i tihnk imma put the 95 in my fb and then put my 91 motor in the coupe after i rebuild it. Hope i can come up with the $
