I hate you! lol!

as for the front tires, my guess would be, that he has 4 17X 8's or 9's or something, and it only fits in the back and he's waiting to get spacers.. or else..he's ...errh ..um i don't know.

The reason I have 17s in the rear and 15s in the front is..... I'm poor. I actually plan on getting 16" mesh rims all around and will use my wide ass model 6s for when I need the grip. Those are base model steel wheels in front... I took off the hubcaps because they were making this annoying flapping sound.

Yeah, the original plan was to have these gold advans in the rear and work vs-xx multispoke rims in front... once I got the quote for the work rims, I just said screw it. I already spent way too much money on wheels, tires, and anything exterior wise so now I'm going to seriously upgrade my suspension and then work on performance whenever I get the SR20DET.

they are Yashio Factory sideskirts... they are pretty much like every other Nismo sideskirts fiberglass ripoff out there. But oh well, I got the stickers, which I dont even use.

Yashio Factory Sideskirts at Taka Kaira.com = approx $420 + $291 shipping + $250 paint job = $961 = waste of money.

It would have been $2000 total if I had let them "fit" the sideskirts onto my car.

i've done that in reverse, i had mesh rims with summer tires, stockers with snows, snows on rear, v rated on front

i did it only to pass inspection

i had 4 bald tires from the ex owner, so i mixed 'n' matched for a week

till i could buy 4 street tires
ah well
my little rant

My theory:

If you can only afford 2 rims at a time, either:

A) Don't buy only 2 rims
B) Wait until you can afford all 4.

Hm.. Okkkk.. so what exactly is wrong with having two different sets of wheels anyways? I really don't see any problem with it unless for some reason unless you guys think it makes me look like I want to look like some sort of drag car. I would rather use the money I have to buy nice looking lightweight wheels rather than stick with my crappy stock wheels or buying a whole set of heavy and ugly rims. Yech, I dont want to imagine what my car would look like with stock wheels.. but maybe that's just me.

Very nice looking car! I'm a bit confused though about the license plate. Its LHD and you don't have an sr but they look like japanese plates.

Hey! I got a photo of your car from one of the 240SX meets back in November! I was with my friend who had the black S13 with the Silvia face. Nice car. Not too flashy, simple, and clean.

Yeeesh..sorry to hear about the money spent for the side skirts. Shoulda went with ViS knockoffs eh?

I thought about putting my Japanese plate on my car. . it was on my S13, but the front of my 97 ISN'T Japanese at all. . hehe
It'd look more appropriate with a euro plate, as long as a true 200sx driver doesn't notice my headlights =)

So now I have this JDM license plate. . hehe. . looked cool on my "180sx" tho. .

mmm... Concorde Grey.... (the color of the finest 240s)

Those are my favorite skirts. If I were to ever kit my car, it'd be the Nismo 270R kit. Overall - it looks good. I assume you are running no front grill at all? (your hood support is well hidden in the pics &nbsp

And Travis - the mismatched wheel thing started off w/ the FWD crowd. Many were using the smaller fronts b/c it allowed them to keep their lower ratios (14" wheel) when they'd take it to the strip, but they would leave the bling bling on in the back. After all, on a FWD car, all the rear wheels do is keep the gas tank from dragging.

It seems to have also caught on with the "I can't afford but really want black wheels" crowd and the "I don't have the money to get all four overly expensive wheels and tires" crowd ( tsunami's crowd

Yeah the mismatched wheel epidemic is courtesy of the FWD croud........nice set of 17's or 18's out back and 15" wheels without the hubcover up front....gives that "fresh from the dragstrip look" to the car....what a F**king joke!!!!!

damn hippo, you got to it before me. This Honda boy was telling me the same thing that smaller stock front wheel reduce rotational inertia on takeoff. But seriously, stock metal wheels wight as least twice as 17" alloy's!!! Only if I knew that back then...

having different sets of wheels also give people an image that "look! I'm a racer/mechanic and I'm too cool".. At least that's how i despise them... not you tho Takumi, you just have no money.

Actually, the factory Civic 14" steelies weigh in at 18 lbs

http://www.miata.net/faq/wheel_weights.html

...while the material is heavier, they are much smaller than a set of dubz

Besides that, it isn't so much that rotational inertia that matters for drag-racing as it is the gearing issues. A shorter wheel/tire combo will spin up to speed faster than a larger one.

ok, that makes sense now, but remember, i didn't setup my wheels like that to be "cool" or to get "faster launches." Unfortunately for me, since i'm spending the last of my cash on coilovers, it's going to look that way for a while... unless someone can generously donate me some nicelooking mesh wheels... or let me borrow some and I'll pay whoever back in about a year.

and about the license plate, i got it as a gift from my friend who used to collect license plates... so it was either leave it in my room or put it on. I didn't want to be rude so it's on... but it still looks nice even though I'm not in Japan right now.

Yes Hipposleek, the grill was removed because it was ugly (fins are NOT cool). Hopefully when i find an s14 front clip, it will come with the japanese grill (hopefully without that godawful Silvia logo). The bad thing about not having a grill is that at hwy speeds, the hood looks like it's bouncing from the inside of the car.. but it's actually not noticable unless you're looking directly at the hood.

ok......one more question then i'll get off the wheel thing.......why would you buy 2 rediculously expensive wheels......and "save up" for the other two in the future when you could have 4 wheels for less money? or if you insist on the expensive wheels, why not just save up for all 4 at once?

Actually i think Luey02 has you confused with Tsunami, your scr names look the same.

For a moment when i first read this topic, I thought it was you Takumi.

Takumi/Tsunami = different names..

but to the quick on looker it looks the same.. it's the "T***mi" that confuses ppl.

just trying to hopefully clear things up.,, of course, i could be wrong..
